First try at DWC. Pyramid seeds Auto Purple

Well this will probably be the last update until I harvest. Breeder says it should be ready to harvest at day 70 and its looking promising so far. Gave my Auto Purple a major trim to try and get as much light to as many buds as possible, especially in these critical final weeks. Also cloned my bagseed and set up 2 more DWCs in my tent. Also ordered some of Advanced Nutrient's Overdrive to test it out and got some of their Final Phase for when I flush as well. Got a microscope on order so I can harvest exactly when I need to. But even without it, I can already see that some branches are more mature than others. I think I'll be doing multiple small harvests instead of one big one, just to get the buds at their peak. So here are some pictures at day 49 for the Auto Purple and day 39 for the bagseed.

The clones. Obviously, this is not their permanent set up. Just until they root

Thanks for the compliments guys. I think I just got lucky. This grow started out pretty ghetto and eventually got pretty good. But it still isn't the best. If I got this pretty good auto plant from a bunch of mess ups, I can't wait to see what else I can do with the knowledge I gained from this. I clipped a few buds off of her so I can have a bit for the new year, and the buds I clipped were ready (at least I think so, with what I saw under my microscope). But I haven't flushed my plants yet, and I'm not experienced enough to know what that effects, but I do have to say that after I flush, I hope my buds stop smelling like fresh-cut grass. It's a strange smell for bud, in my experience. But anyway, the bag appeal so far is great. It's so purple, it just LOOKS amazing. In other news, the bagseed I have, that is now on day 44, has been successfully transplanted from soil to a DWC as well. So my set-up is now all DWC. By all DWC, i mean I now have 3 DWC buckets. I have the Auto Purple in one, my bagseed in another, and a clone from that bagseed in another. Once I harvest my Purple, I'm gonna be planting another seed, but unfortunately, I don't have any more auto strains. I've got:
Barney's Farm LSD
Barney's Farm Vanilla Kush
Zambeza Seeds Blue Magnum
Nirvana Seed's Blue Mystic
Nirvana Seed's AK-48
CH-9's Humboldt
26 more bagseeds from the one I already have planted
5 seeds from a bag of Chocolope
Any suggestions on which one to grow next? And I took pictures for today, but can't find the cord to get them onto my computer so I'll do that later. Sorry.

The Vanilla Kush is amazing! I grew a few last year in FF soil. I'm piecing my first DWC together as we speak. I'm going to get my feet wet like you, by beginning with an Auto. I've seen some amazing things come outta them buckets. I harvested just over a pound and a half of Vanilla Kush under 600w in soil. I think with a properly setup DWC run, you could easily double that. I'll be watching, let us know what you go with!

So I just realized something. I wrote down the date the Auto Purple popped out of the seed because the breeder said 70 days from when it germs. But that is not the date I have been going by on this thread. by that date, I am on day 65. Sorry for any confusion on that. But thank you guys for the compliments and the +rep. I appreciate it. I've got my plans for my next grow already underway since Ill more than likely be starting it as soon as I harvest my Auto Purple. I already have my drip-line set up for a 4 bucket RDWC. I just have to harvest before I set it up because I don't have enough buckets at the moment. In other news, I got some of Advanced Nutrients Overdrive (because it looked interesting) and their Final Phase (because I did some research on 'flushing' and it was the #1 rated product that I found on multiple sites) and I have to say, I think I'm going to start recommending it to anyone that asks AND I will definitely be using it in all of my next grows. It has made every single one of my buds, including the little popcorn buds lower on the branches, visibly bigger every single day. In other news, I'm going to be growing the bagseed, Zambeza's Blue Magnum, CH9's Humboldt, and Nirvana's AK-48. I'm going to save the other strains for when I have everything dialed in. I haven't gotten pictures for today, but I'll go get them and put them up tonight. I'm excited to see the picture difference from day 55 to day 62.

It smells amazing. Like puppy breath. Whenever I open the door to the room the tent is in, dankness just flows out. Haha. But I wanted to post somethin real quick before I go to work. I had built a stealth PC box just for fun earlier in the year, but when I put it to use, it was a failure due to heat issues. But I solved the heat issue now and I thought to my self "instead of killin the bagseed clone, why not get some use from it?" So I built a mini DWC from a small Sterilite bin and I'm soaking an airstone in the water right now. I'm excited to see if I can grow that clone in a mini DWC in a PC case. I'll take pics once I'm off work of the set up

Well I already talked about the PC box, but the clone I was originally going to use had too much rot from being in the soaking rockwwol for too long. So I just took another clone. But I also finished setting up my RDWC. Im just waiting for the caulking to set. I also clipped some more buds that were ready and the wet weight came out to .55 oz.

I am also trading out Zambeza's Blue Magnum for an Auto Purple seed I found. :) I would like to grow it again and see what this strain can really do, now that my system is a little more dialed in.

Looking great! The auto is looking like a beast and your ingenuity with the mini system in the PC, awesome! Im still piecing my first DWC grow together. Im going to be running a 4'x2'x5' tent for veg with about 250w CFL Blues and a 4'9"x4'9"x6' tent w/ 600w HPS over 4 plants. Questions. How did you start the seeds in Rockwool once they germinated? Did you leave them in a seed tray with ph balanced water until the roots popped out the bottom? Also, how would you rate the overall ease of running a DWC/Bubbleponics setup so far?

Of course I'm getting anxious the closer I get to switching over to this system I just want to be somewhat prepared. Im sure I will learn a ton more once I get going. Again, youre doing awesome and I appreciate any and all help! I figure asking someone else that is new to this but has at least one grow under their belt would benefit me. Stay medicated!

Actually, I just germed my seeds with the paper towel method and once they had a good 1/2"-1" taproot, I wet a cube of rock wool with PH balanced water, dropped the seed into the hole, closed it a little so the seed had to fight a little for the light, and set it on top of hydroton in a already-set up DWC, just above the water line. Enough that the rock wool wasn't getting direct water, but it could pull it from the hydroton around it. Then once it sprouts, bury the rock wool with hydroton. And I think it is easy and pretty low maintainance to use a DWC. The only thing I don't like is having to PH the buckets individually and having several different resevoirs that something can go wrong in. It wasn't a big deal to me, only cause the most plants I've had a once was 3. But that's why I'm switching to an RDWC set up. 4 plants, 1 res. simple. And I hope you keep a journal on your grow. I'd be excited to see another first time DWC grow.

I will for sure keep a journal or start a thread. You'll be sitting back like, "thats my boy" with a tear in your eye hahaha or so I hope! Thanks for the help I'll check ya later! Stay medicated!

Looking forward to the thread. :) And thank you, dr. Haha. I just started flushing about an hour ago with Final Phase. My goal is to be finished harvesting by next Friday. I can't wait! Watching this little girl grow up has been awesome. I imagine this is how parents feel about their children. In other news, the clone in the PC box is still nice and green and healthy. Just waitin for it to get its roots. Already switched it to 12/12 only because of the space I have to work with. Female preflowers (I think) have started to show, which is good cause now I know the sex of the bagseed mother in my DWC.

Not really much to report. Yesterday was the day the breeder said Auto Purple would be ready, but it definitely is not. Then again I added Overdrive...anyway, my RDWC leaked when i tried it out, so back to the drawing board on that. I harvested a couple side branches tonight, but the main branches are not ready yet. I weighed one of the branches i harvested and it came to 1.5oz. I know that doesn't really mean much, I was just curious and wanted to share my results. The little clone in the PC case is starting to show roots. Now, on to the pictures.

Sorry it took a while for an update. I went out of town for a long weekend.
She (still to be confirmed) is lookin pretty good. The seed case is still clinging to the baby leaf on the bottom of the plant, but I don't think it is that big of a deal since it has more leaves now. She's grown quite a bit since I was gone. I was also able to get ahold of another bucket as a back-up res. The res she is currently in has about 4 gallons of PH balanced and nutrient treated water in it. I also had a question: should i be concerned about the temp of the res or not? Thanks to those who are following me on this journey. :D

Grown 2 full sets of leaves since I've been gone. :D

depends what your temp is at.
