First timer!!! Hydro help!!

Hey what's up guys, I got a few questions about hydro. So so far I think I'm doing pretty good, I have 7 plants in a 35 gallon tub..I kinda messed up by mixing different strains together. But owell...lol...so they are about 4 weeks old. About 6-8 inches tall. I noticed that when I first started in they were seedlings I was giving them too much food, like 200 ppm...but they took it and didn't start showing signs of something until about 2 weeks in. They started getting some rust spots, and I thought it was from over nuting. Because some had the eagle claws showing and others just had the spots. But I'm also using reverse osmosis water, and I wasn't using calmag with it. So I have now dumped all my water and filled it up with fresh plain ro..water...I'm gonna do a flush for 24hrs..then give them proper dosage of nutes, like maybe 300 ppm to start. I'm also using hydrogen poroxide..root stimulator. ..and gh flora series nutes.some of the leaves were fading into yellow a little bit...which I figured is from not enough nutes..but then again my nutes was 360 at the time..so maybe it was from not having calmag...in the ro water...any suggestions from the pros out there???????

Root stilmulator is non organic. Don't use it. You shouldn't need it anyways. I get rust spots too. Can't figure it out. Always happens to older growth though so I just remove the leaf when it gets bad in one. I do rdwc though

What is your pH? Usually that is the first problem in hydro. Instead of trying to chase it up and down, I usually just change out the res every week. I've heard the pH swings up & down more easily with RO water.

Rust spots are a classic symptom of a calcium deficiency. If your using RO, you should be supplementing with Calmag.

That there is your problem

The root stimulator is suppose to be for rapid growith and more roots. But your saying to not use it?

My pH swings from 5.6-5.8...it's only jumped to like 6.3...usually it stays in range...but I read that I shouldn't change it everyone it goes out of range..they say change it when it gets to far out of range like below 5.5 and above 6.5

It's for coco or soil. Drain to waste basically. You shouldn't use it in hydro like you're doing where youre recirculating water.

I use ro and supplement with calmag (graciously) and still get rust spots.

No... add ph up or down if it goes out of range. I used to change water every week but now I do it every 2 weeks sometimes longer. When you're adding more ro your res, you just need to make sure whether it's pure ro and h2o2 or before mentioned WITH nutes, that you're keeping your ppms where they need to be. 350-500 in veg,5-600 early flower and 6-800 2 weeks to a week before chop. At that point I always use pure ro and h2o2 for a week to flush.

The root stuff is called rapid rooter..it's from general hydroponics...so your saying don't use that for hydro...? It says it's for hydro

Or just add pure ro water to RAISE pH because it's usually around 7-7.5 which you can use rather than pH up.

I have the exact same stuff. I used it for a while too, but there's non organic stuff in it which you DO NOT want in a recirculating system. Hydro means NOT using soil. Of course it's labeled for hydro. They make more sales that way. But you can use it in top feeding coco like you would soil, which is actually still "Hydro".

I use this chart to a TEE. Id use it too if I were you, because it works great. I'm a big fan of gh flora trio. I love it.Recirculating-Nutrient-Schedule-custom-sm.jpg

OK thanks man, basically my ro water is like 6.5 on the dot. .but I wasn't using calmag...so that could Def be my issue. I did a 24 hr flush with plain ro water last night. When I get home IL add the calmag first, then the proper nutes. Are you still saying to not use the rapid rooter liquid?

CAL MAG MIXED FIRST.!!!! until completely dissolved, THEN flora micro, DISSOLVE, then flora gro, DISSOLVE, then flora bloom and h2o2.
Do not use the root stimulator.

The h202 is hydrogen peroxide rigjt. And another thing...I wasn't sure how good I was gonna do in hydro so I got a bunch of plants mixed.. I got 2 sour d autos..2 full size headband, and 3 super skunk seeds that I kept from my last harvest, that could be male or female. So they poll are taking nutes in a different levels

It's alright. I do the same thing. I have 9 buckets, 9 strains. And yes, h2o2 is hydrogen peroxide. But bro, you can't use that 3% store bought bull shit. You need NutriLife brand that is 29%. Buy this IMMEDIATELY.

Do not buy the 1 litre. 4 litres/1 gallon is twice the price from $20-$40 but you get 4X the amount. Don't make that mistake. Just spend the $40 and use it. It'll last a while at only 3ml/gal.
I honestly can't believe people buy the 1 litre bottles for $20 when 4 litres is $40..

What's wrong with the 3%..isn't it just to prevent algae in stuff...
