first timer--anyone have feedback?

Well I am confused I have heard that some will sex before flowering starts?

well that depends how long u have it vegging
if u have it vegging for a while then ya it would tell ya
but some people like to flower early and they wont know what it is till they do flower for a couple weeks.

mine presexed 3 weeks of veg 18/6 light, couple days after fimming

Its all about the spectrums of light that your using as well. Say if your using cfls, and your using more warm light than cool light, your plants will sex faster. If you use a hps for vegging it will sex faster than a mh and so forth. Although your light schedule is still primary.

Oh and I didn't see if it was answered, but rust spots are mostly calcium def. Get yourself some cal-mag or some dolemite lime.

Well I am using 4x 20 watt ott lights. The spectrum is 5200k. 20/4

Fimmed at 3 weeks old. Preflowers started to form at day 28.

420-Nice new pic bro! Well shoot I hope mine sex soon! The preflower is pear shaped no little stem connecting it, just grows straight outta the node. Fingers crossed.

hope everyone's christmas was well!

was just takin a bong hit with my garden, looking at the preflower on my plant #1...there is definately a small white something protruding from it! only one white hair looking thing and its only about 1/32" out at the most!

i am not 100% sure that this means female and it does not mean hermie is impossible, but it cant be bad right? cant get a good pic of it though, too blurry.

Thoughts?

what about the intersections of the stem and branches? is there sacks there with white hairs coming out them? or is the a bunch or few sacks there?

if you see a white hair your pretty much golden bro. Hermies are pretty rare as long as your conditions are stable.

yup just wait it out it took me about a week of flowering to sex all my plants but untill at least that long is hard to tell... I could of sworn i had a few more males but after about a week it all becomes more apparent. If you check back into my thread "4x4 grow room clean slate" i have some great macro pics of pre flowers ans male / female plants so you have an idea what to look for.

I just don't know! I am not sure if its male or not. The preflower doesn't protrude out from the stalk, it grows upward parallel to the step and such. they are kinda pear shaped.

There is a matching set on the outside of each staminate. Just one on each side of it. There is about 1" in between them. See pics I attached before. But they are not connected or in a group...I just dunno...get a magnifying glass in the next couple hours. Any other tips for sexing?

plus it could take a week or so just to show but look for white hairs coming from top of those pear shaped things those are fem

It wouldn't do any good to post more pics, the preflowers haven't changed since the last pics I poated of them on tuesday I think.

Yesterday I went and got two 20 watt 24" 6500k cfl's and ballast to hang over the top. Changed my whole light setup around.

I know have 40 watts of 6500k and 80 watts 5200k. Hopefully my plants like it!

I also obtained and super cleaned three of those cat litter buckets with Comet and then a 10% bleach solution. I drilled a bunch of little 1/8" holes on the bottom and sides for drainage. I purchased some high quality organic top soil, perlite, vermaculite, peat moss, and dolamite lime at 1 TBLS per gallon of soil. I mixed it up to allow for great drainage. Just did it by feel, not positive on thre part per part info, though I made it with 16 cups (1 ghallow) of soil, adding the aforementioned components by touch and eye.

Allowed the soil to sit out and get room temp last night! The shit was cold and I didn't want to shock my babies. So I waited till today and transplanted them. I also bought some superthrive and some spring water from walmart. I added two drops per gallon to help them deal with the transplanting. No other nutes yet this time. I did dose my plant/grow area with a nice coat of Fungicide #3 last night after I turned the lights off.

Still not 100% sure of plant #1's sex. There is definately one tiny (1/32" protrusion) white thing coming out of ONE of the preflowers of plant #1.

Well, that's kinda a lot to me so get back to me 420, Gypsy, cloudy, wink, jonny, banana, chichen....etc!

it think its a good change
i just wouldnt use bleach to clean it leaves residue not good
be carefull dont add too much superthrive it will hurt the plants
other wise sounds good maybe more light but maybe not how r the plants doing now ?
are they likeing it from what u can see?

yeah i was worried about the bleech but i rinsed each bucket for like 5 minutes then let them air dry for an hour then hand wipped them. so i think it will be ok...

they look happy. yeah i am sending away for my new light system on the 5th-ish. i am going with a MH conversion bulb that will fit in my 600 watt hps ballast.

so next go i will just veg from seed till two weeks with cfl then give them 600 watts mh! check it out. feedback?
