First timer and using bubbleponic

Make sure you have four good leaves before you nute.
I am slightly confused. In Roseman's DIY thread he has a group at the same stage as mine and if I read correctly, he added 1/4 strength solution to them. I'm holding off for the moment

Hey Mac - I haven't been following this thread a lot because my plants are in the flowering stage, though I have this "saved" and it's going to be my "manual" that I review before every grow.

You should add 1/4 dose of SH nutes when you have your first set of four leaves. You do not count the first two "round" leaves. When you get your first set of four leaves after that - add 1/4 dose of SH nutes.

Good luck - hope you have a great grow.

Read Post # 92.

When giving advice, all of us prefer to play it safe. MC and I do not want to advise you, and the plants die from us giving bad advice, so we play it safe.
MC uses a lot stronger nutes, than you or I use. The SH pre-packaged nutes are made for CFL growing and are a little milder in strenght than most growers use.
As a rule of thumb, for all purpose growing, for any nutes in any system, wait until you see 4 full leaves, although they might be 1/8 inch long, not counting those first two round leaves, and when you have 4 full leaves, use 1/4 dose of nutes.

I have two tanks, one is one week ahead of the other one. One tank has 6 plants two weeks old, with 6 leaves on 5 of the 6 plants. In that tank is one runt. I took a big chance of killing that runt, by using full strenght nutes in it for the other 5 plants. I, nor MC, or anyone wants to advise you to take a chance of killing a baby plant.

In my 2nd tank, i have 5 plants with 2 full leaves, so I started 1/4 nute, again , taking a chance of killing the runt. I did not buy my seeds, I did not buy clones and if I kill one, well ca sara, ca sara. I'll start over.

IF I understand correctly, you are using SH pre-packaged nutes, and CFLs and I'd start 1/4 nutes now. Watch them closely and IF they start yellowing, then drain half the water out and replace it with clean pHed water.

I do not drive 55 mph, and I love to speed things up and I will take a chance often. Everyone else is not like me, thank God.

Thanks for the clarification. I think I will add half of the 1/4 strength solution now and wait a day or 2 to see how it goes before adding the rest.

Great thoughtful decision,
Using Nutes is sort of like using tooth paste,
once it is out there, it is out there, and you can't put it back.

The ones I put FULL Nutes on, some in the tank had 3 nodes, of six leaves, and some of them had only four leaves, plus that runt plant. The ones with 4 leaves are showing slight leaf tip yellowing this evening. The runt is all of a sudden taking off and just a healthy green color, no yellowing.

The three in the bucket , 2 had three nodes, one had two nodes and I put them on Full Nutes, they are all aalmost doubling in size in one day.

Don't rush the feedings, they need 3 nodes, 6 full leaves for full SH nutes.

the rest of the quarter strength solution I mean. Definately following the adage, "It's easier to add more than take some out". How long does it usually take for the starter leaves to fall off?

Man, you are not going to believe the rate of rapid growth you are about to witness. You will have to raise the lights tomorrow an inch.
You need to do a last run-throuch check,
check the airstones are all bubbling, check the pH, check the feeder tubes are not crimped by looking to see if water is dripping from each cup.
Try to raise the humidity.
Then stand back and watch.

The new leaves get bigger every hour! The Ph is still 6 (1/2 distilled water and 1/2 Brita Filtered water is working well) All the cups are dripping water and I can see the roots of 3 plants coming out of the cup. The rockwool is still moist. Bubbles are bubblin'. And I am misting the leaves every 3-4 hours. Let's rock!

Go Baby, Go! They liked what they got and now we let them play with that for awhile and when they slow down we hit them again! That's how the plant "talks" to you!

I got impatient and added the rest of the 1/4 strength solution. As long as all looks good tommorrow I will direct the fan under the girls. fingers crossed for a great night
