i'd say start with something that's more indica or indica dom, as heavy sativas can be tricky to grow, even for non beginners ..
secondly, don't go off of what a breeder tells you in terms of expected yield, thc percentages, grow times, etc, etc.. not to say breeders lie, lets just say they tell what the best results could be under optimal conditions..
also, try not to get too caught up in what i refer to as the flavor of the month club. it's tough at times being a newbie, and either seeing or reading about all of these new cool strains out today, let's say that super og gorilla glue lemon haze that's in all of the magazines.. not to say that these can't be good, just that sometimes they're not the most stable strains out there, and a lot of times, they don't live up to the hype..
lastly, where to order.. check out some of our site sponsors, or look in the seed bank review section on here for some trusted places to order.. where to order depends on where you live.. there's tons of euro based banks, some have better stealth that helps get them through customs if you're in the us of a, but in the last few years, that's a ton of new us based banks, that, although, usually don't have as many breeders as many euro based banks do, you don't have to worry about spending all of your coin and having them get snagged in customs as they ship right here in the states, and therefore customs is not an issue..

i'm not a big fan of autos, but i would recommend fems, especially if you only have a small space, or are limited by numbers. nothing worse than spending months and months on a plant, nursing it along, trying not to love it to death, especially when you're new at things, only for it to turn out to be a male. i've grown tons of fems and never had a hermie or a straight up male, and recommend them to pretty much anyone..

If doing fems I would look into a more production strain. A lot of the boutique lines are very fussy to get and keep going. I figured autos since its quicker to get a harvest and they dont need much.

I think I want to try feminized for sure and as far as strain I keep reading northern lights is the go to for beginners. I am in the US. Any particular breeders you recommend? Bohdi gets awesome reviews but they seem impossible to get.

i purchased from single seed center (or whatever its called) and had a positive experience. i got the glueberry og and recieved a gorilla glue freebie that i just started recently. holding off on glueberry og until i can get another light.

i found that most feminized seed packs were more money than i was wanting to spend all at once so single seed center made sense to me as i wasnt limited to packs of 5 or 10, i could just get one or two. theres probably other banks that sell singles too.

i think a good beginner strain that produces well is northern lights. i dont have experience with it personally but ive heard it mentioned numerous times that its a good beginner strain so i might look into that. definitely stick to indicas i think.

I would try some Bodhi gear instead of autos or fems. Greatlakesgenetics.com has served several of us well, carries excelent genetics and will have a BOGO sale this coming week, including Bodhi gear. Goji OG and Sunshine Daydream are two of his best crosses, and they will go out of stock soon, so it is the moment to go for them. Good luck with your grows!

Aurora winds botanical is a good seedbank. Got gods gift, super sour diesel, bubba kush, and grape ape from them. 2/4 confirmed fem so far. I got all feminized seeds. $16 for 3 seeds and freebies over $50 orders

I popped my seed order cherry with the DC Seed Exchange. I found it satisfyingly ironic, that I could order seeds from our nation's capital, and receive them via the United States Postal Service.
I ordered on a SUN evening from northern MI.
By THU the postal carrier had put them in my mailbox.
I myself was overwhelmed with information about breeders, and strain information. For $57 I got enough bang for the buck, for a relatively inexperienced grower, such as myself. Not a moment of regret about it....

When you say growing to support your own use that suggests you need a strain that is easy to clone. I would try Blueberry Gum #1 or #2 from g13 Labs. They are mostly indica and usually produce shorter bushier plants. You want bushy to provide more growing points that become cuttings for clones. The product does have a fruity smell and also flowers quickly. I've tried a bunch of strains and the BG is my personal favorite.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Do you happen to have any pics of any of your grows of this strain?
