First time grower, first time cfl grow

Hey Freddie Roach. Thanks for the comments. Just the two plants in there as I didnt realise how bushy they would get so struggling with these at the moment and a 4'x3'x2' cab. They are both measuring around 32 inches / 82cms but the pots were quite large so they lift them even higher in the cab. Luckily i still have a bit of head room so should be ok for the rest of the grow and the early LST helped. I reckon there are about 16 good buds/cola and about 8-9 smaller buds lower down which probably wont produce much yield - draw back of CFL's and light penetration but I couldnt afford the other options and always worry about burning my house down. Hi DopestDope. Welcome and nice one for dropping in and leaving a comment. I used one 250w CFL for vegging and this flowering CFL is 300w. Seems to be doing the trick. Still waiting on signs of when to start flushing for two weeks then hopefully if all goes well for the harvesting to begin. Will update in a few days time. Laters! :-)

Remember that in the ned what matters when it comes to lighting is how much light they are getting. If you get the same lumes with CFLs then its the same thing :)

About those buds not getting enough light... Thats why I have a bunch of 42W CFL instead of one big one... so I can put them everywhere. I put some CFL for side lighting and it helps with the lower buds...

Very impressed with this Dafoe - keep up the good work! Gives me hope for my grow - super cheapy setup with 7 plants under (5) 5ft fluorescent strip lights. Just as you've clearly seen, fluoros are actually pretty good. Mine are a month in and are goin quite nicely... Having said that I have ordered a 600w hps as I think i'll need a bit of extra goodness for the flowering.

Tristilus... your plants look awesome. Great color and bushy. The thing you have to remember is that those plants will get a lot bigger in flower. How big do you want your plants to be ?

Totally agree with you. Theyre all around 1 ft right now and I'm hoping to start flowering this week... I just need to get my shit together and sort out a properly blacked out space with some decent insulation so as not to alert the authorities! Also my hps could arrive anytime in the next week, so I was guna wait until it arrived before going to 12-12. Fortunately I've got 6 - 7ft of headroom in my loft so height isnt such a problem. What do you think - is there any point starting to flower now with the lights I've got? Judging by dafoe's efforts they might just do ok...?

Sounds good... you can wait for HPS and get bigger plants or flower now... Depends on how big you want them. You figure grow about 3 times their size when they go into flower.

hps will most likely make 1.5 times the yield from cfls as far as quality arguments go both ways and many argue for better quality with cfl something about color index producing more useful light bla bla bla, but all those experiments are not with cannabis. you would have to compare clones under hps/cfls for me to believe it. anyway thats what i think HPS for sure. cfls do work wonders but they have a special purpose. hps id for bigger grows and 7 plants is quite big a grow

Day 69 (68 in soil) Day 44 flowering

Quick update. Still hitting these with molasses and nute mix. Not sure if Plant A is ready for flushing so if you think from the bud pic it is please let me know. Ok if I'm honest I just typed out a huge update for two days and then hit the back button and lost the fricking lot so I'm hamering this one out a bit frustrated and pissed off!!!! Plant A is not looking as if it will yield as much as Plant B even though they are the same seeds, in the same soil and have the same light, water and nutes???? Very odd. Anyway. PICS:

Picture failed but you can see this in pic after next!

Congrast Dafoe, looks like you are going to have an awesome yield.:weed:
The difference in the plants, all other things being equal could be due to just being different phenos of the same strain.

As far as flushing.. there are as many theories as there are growers from what ive seen, but from the look of your plants I would say it might still be a little early.

Hey Tatan, that makes sense! Did some reading up and see exactly what you mean abou different phenos. Thanks you Denzel just hope it finishes as well as its promising - and doesnt take too much longer lol. Alp2420 the light is a 300w CFL, brand name Envirogrow and got it from an online ebay shop. They are pretty chunky bulbs but seem to do the job - only advice I would give for any new grows thinking of using the same or for my next grow is to get some side lights in there as well for the buds lower down as these CFL's dont penetrate the canopy as well as you'd want. Thanks Btt will def post some pics of the final fruits of my labour when they are finished!

those are looking excellent!!! maybe back off the nitrogen for plant B cause shes still stretching quite a bit and should be filling out more, or could just be a more sativa pheno cus shes not very dark green. either way id back off the nitrogen just a bit, what nutes are you using?

Hey BigChillin - much appreciated! I have put a link to an article that explains all about the use of molasses but again its all personal choice. My understanding is that it provides essential carbohydrates (sugars) that are good for micro organisms and micro fertilising both in the soil and in the plant itself (more sugar more energy for growth in its most basic sense). What I have seen from using it is a big jump in the bushiness of my buds. Again this could be coincidence with the flowering of the plant but I do feel its helped and I can smell the molasses when the plants transpire. MMM nice lol. http://boards.cannabis.com/organic-growing/81681-molasses-sweet-organic-goodness.html

Mr Bitti cheers dude! Again you are totally right. Plant B is definitely stretching and I hadnt given it much thought so I have now backed off the fertiliser full stop to see what happens. Am hoping to start flushing Plant A this week as it further ahead in flowering and think harvest is approaching. This strain (Power Africa) is supposed to flower to harvest in 8-9 weeks and I'm late into week 7 now. Will post some pics soon but been a busy few days! I have used Plagron Terra Grow for vegging and for flowering I have used Plagron Terra Bloom. Built up the dose from 30% recommended to 120% of the recommended in both stages - seems that the build up allows you to exceed the recommended dose without any nute burn! Little tip for you all there lollol. But dont blame me if you turn your leafs brown ;-)

Im a coco man so i feed every day at a medium dose, but you seem to have youre shcedule down for soil. Id recommend you give her maybe one or two more feedings because often plants take about 1 week longer than the breeeder package says. Really it depends on what kind of high you want. as for plant b id say just feed her wwater a couple times and then start again at 50%

Day 85 (84 in soil) Day 60 flowering

Hey people! Nearing the end of my grow soon. Just posted a few pics for a question I have. Does anyone think these buds are ready for harvesting. The trichs through the microscope I have, which isnt 30x, are misty but not amber but 50-80% of the pistils are brown/red. What do you think peeps? Will upload last photos on day of harvest but for now any help would be appreciated.
