First time grower, doing it legit from the start (Need defoliation advice)

I only care when you speak as if you are certain of these ridiculous notions.

and then a bunch of newbs come in here reading your posts and believe you....

a month later we see threads like..

why are my yields low or what's up with slow growth or so on...etc

you can use a weedeater on your plants for all I care. Just don't act like it's a good trimming technique.

I could chop off all my leaves. Every single one. And through the miracle of increased veg time yield more than anyone who never molested their plant. So does that mean my defoliating helped yield more buds? Of course not. But it doesn't stop guys from posting threads about their new high yielding technique. Go figure.

Keep training them to grow around the container until the foliage covers the soil. Think along the lines of a bonsai tree. Then after they grow vertically you can decide how tall you want them before beginning to flower.
Thanks for staying with the post. This sounds like a good practice, anyone else in consensus?

New fan leaves are already exploding in size since the last post, I am considering tying them down out of the way of the colas.

THIS WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A DEFOLIATION TOPIC!!! I wanted to edit the topic title but it wont let me anymore. It should read (Need LST Advice) instead because I agree now defoliation is an unnecessary practice at this stage.

I'm pretty sure that LST'ing increases veg time and is therefore also banned on this forum, say 3 hail mary's and flog yourself at your earliest convenience!! lol :?

So why isn't there a sticky on not defoliating, showing the dangers of what might happen if you pull a few leaves off?? You'd have thought there would be a warning against it, a thread packed with evidence and facts.

there are many threads packed with evidence and facts. Some of them ARE stickied.

You are just too dense to grasp the ideas

that is all

There aren't any regarding defoliation stickied anywhere, I was just asking why there wasn't a sticky that disproves defoliation? Surely that would be much easier than having these conversation over and over again, we could just read the thread about why it doesn't work?

I'm just curious that's all, no need to get so stressed about it.

because to many peopel seem to read defoliation is good and then go pulling off leaves during veg which is the definate wrong thing to do, so a sticky would likely lead to more of this. Whatever side of the defoliaton during flower argument you come down on there are 3 facts tht are for sure, it should not be done during veg or early flower, and it is not somthing new growers should be experimenting with, and not every strain responds well to it

There's currently an exercise in futility underway to see if it works and if it does I may stick it for laughs and giggles. Prof Terpen is conducting the study (I use the term loosely) and in this thread you can see where we prodded him to do it. There's a link in the last pages to his thread where he's doing the defoliation experiment. https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/807782-420-institute-w-prof-terpen.html

I find it a little strange that nobody has ever actually done the experiment before now, you could have started the sticky with the defoliation failure experiment.

lol... but not in woodland camo. THere wouldn't be enough green in there ;)

Hmmmm, this wouldn't work they'd just start more.....better to just corral all the loonies where we can poke and prod them from time to time.
ooooooooh! I've always wanted one of those!
