First time grow?? Force flowering outside???

OK we got like 14 hours of light here and i want to put it injto flower cuz its not showing buds just starting pistles so i was wondering should i just leave it get to 12 hours in like a month or do it do so i can harvest b4 the first frost and how do i force flowering? I was think of putting a garbag can over it a plastic one at night and then take it off like 1 hour after sunrise is this a good idea?

What i did is find out what time is sunrise and then give it 12 hours from there. i put my plant inside a dark closet at 5:30-6:00 and take it back out again when its dark and that worked on my first grow but you would not get as much bud. better do it naturally...
