Another reason I'd like to hear someone say with confidence that CPFLs will do just fine for the small space. Is that I don't want heat to be an issue. Safety-wise is not a risk I'm wanting/willing to take. There's several other people that live here and its not my place to put them at risk. As you can see in the pictures it's a closet and a definate fire hazard if heat is ever in the equation.

Hi. Good luck on your grow and all that. I'm still starting out too, but I've successfully transplanted from soil to DWC and from an AeroGarden into DWC. Even the sickliest of plants eventually picked up and grew new better looking roots. DWC is really easy. It is okay to let the roots be entirely submerged in water, that's how some people do it and that's how I had to do it when going soil to DWC. Just put as many bubbles as you can get away with (I'm using two 18" bubble stones in my 10-gal container with three plants, and I had to stick an additional one into my WF to get the leaves to stop wrinkling). I think it's a very user-friendly system and I doubt you would have any trouble transferring to it. I would very highly recommend you get a TDS meter. They're fairly cheap, around $30-ish. You can order them online, you can also order Ph meters for around $40 that are way better than strip/dropss because you will eventually get tired of strips/drops no matter how much of an optimist you are. Plus you gain more precision and thus you can understand your plants better.

Oh, and looks like the lights you have now are fine for basic veg grow. Why not just get a 250 HPS since it's for flowering anyway? But yes, they do get hot, and yes, you can raise your plants to the end on CFLs. Like here.

Update, I still have the same setups and same 3 plants.

Im looking for:
Air Pump
2500-3500k CPFL Lights
Aluminum Bubble Insullation W/ Tape

Heya all. So the plants are looking AND smelling AWESOME! Their abit thin though. I believe it has to do with the fact that I forced them to go from the 2 week seedling stage (which went to 4 almost 5 weeks) directly to the flowering stage and the fact that I should be using double the lighting I currently have (Just have not had the time to make the additions). So I know I hindered my potential there. So far the flowers are about 1 inch across and 3-4 inches in length (I was going to give them about 2 more weeks before moving them to drying and curing stages before consumtion). I now need to practice my hand at taking clones. Two of the 4 specimens I would like capture as my mothers and take clippings from those to start new tests controls. That is I need to discover how to harvest the bud and obtain 5 clippings from those two specimens. This will be though due to the shortness of the plants. Im still optimistic.

I want to increase flower count! what will achieve this? More light and longer veg cycle, and bloom nutes (since this last group completly skipped that stage, and elements)?

My other question is about nutes. I feel that I have mis inturpreted the chart on the bottle. I only have one bottle of nutes (FloraGro By General Hydroponics). The chart on the reverse side lists the use of two other types durring the other stages but at varying amounts. Ive only been using FloraGro. My question is "Am i supposed to mix the nutes" propperly together for each stage or do I just use one type for each particular stage they are designed for? Im thinking that they need to be mixed (to complete the needed balanced nutrition).

I missed out on the root stimulaters, trace elements, and the bloom nutes (that are not a requirement but certainly will give added benefit to the Hydroponic system).
I am also noticing a slippery surface on my tubes and interiors of the water tank. Im sure this is algae. My tubing is clear allowing light in places to seep through and provide optimum growing enviornment for the algae. I think my fix will be to swap out the tubing with a black tube. And also to throw a second very small pump in the bottom to provide added intank circulation. I picked up an oscilating clip fan about 8" in diameter to add wind circulation to help teach the specimens to grow stronger stemming to compensate for the winds. Problem, adding the fan creates pressure inside the grow tent thus forcing out the air (and the smell) through the holes and other open spots out into the rest of the surrounding room. This is starting to create an odor in the surrounding room/s as well. (Dont get me wrong...I wake up in the morning to the pleasant smell of sweet sticky icky. (Way better than coffee, :) ) Im gonna be doing some planning for the least expensive DIY products to combat this odor issue. Im also going to be modifying my tents to allow me to produce two harvest specimens every 2 weeks. Thus with CFLs should produce high quality flowers in the amount of 2-3 onces every two weeks. You guys got any other ideas?

Also what woud cause the plants to be more thin rather than thinker? Lighting? Ive found it to be really difficult to select a 3 node section for clippings due to how thin the plant is and the buds that are on there. All these issues are prolly from the main problem that they were bad specimens from the get go and I wouldnt have the majority of the problems I have now if they did better in the previous stages.
Once these are harvested I see where some changes can be made to produce a much better specimen.

Keep the ideas flowing. I know most of these jrounals are the same. lets try to make this a hot journal lets get some revolutionary thinking and ideas flowing. Ive been playing with some ideas to be able to turn a pound of top grade ganji off 6 plants in a week (Indoors and on an economical budget).

For lack of response I'm and no longer posting my own grow journal. I have found my own answers through trial and error. And i know that any question I have will most likely need to be answered within 24 hours or its too late (plants beyond help). If others had the same problem it has to primarily deal with the distance of the light to your plant. the plant will grow up-words then create a canopy once within 5-10 inches of the light source and slow vertical growth. My only problems now relate to periodic curling of the leaves for an unexplained reason. Water level is constant, pH is 5.5-5.8, nutes are as directed on the labels. Perhaps a misting will help when visual curling if witnessed.

This is now my 5 cycle of plants, 2 time around on cloning, No problems.

Questions:
Plant periodically resembles lack of water. No discoloration representing magnesium defciency or nitrogen burn.
How to force the bud stage to start immediatly.

Accomplishments:
Cloning- 1 wk completion at 12"
Veg growth-2 wks at 24"

Needs:
Buds 2-4 wks plus a week in darkness to form more external crystallization (external THC) in the photosynthesis process prior to harvesting.

Sweating prior to curing has no effect on potency (sweating doesn't induce THC extraction but more so induces osmosis as it draws out the water aiding in decomposition) but does effect taste and harshness of inhalation. sweating in effect acts as a catalyst in the decomposition process. Thus the taste of decay (much like it smells).
