First Tent, First DIY LED Build

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my grow journal, please feel free to chime in whenever you want for this is my first legitimate and financially sound grow. Every other time has been rando seeds, rando dirt, and tap water XD.

After watching countless videos and reading forums I bought my supplies and created my closet setup.

Tent: 20"x36"x62"
Ventech 4" inline with speed controller and carbon filter
4 CXB 3070s 3500k BB
HLG 185h-C1400B

Nutes: Sensi Grow
Seeds: Blueberry bag seed

#1

#2

These puppies were sprouted on 12/30 and have been vegging until today (35 days) when I switched them to flower. These two plants are my testers (I have some Jamaican Grape and, White Queen, and Mulanje Gold lined up after I get all the kinks figured out) for this set up and so far have been doing pretty well.

One of them is in a pot of coco and perlite (#1) while the other is in a DWC bucket (#2). This is my first venture into DWC and I'm truly amazed. The bucket plant was actually popped about 11 days after the coco and it is clearly significantly larger. It was also originally in a red solo cup with coco and perlite until I decided to give the bucket a shot. 2 weeks in I took it out of the cup, washed off the roots, put it in the net of my bucket, and prayed for it to survive. Through all of that, it still managed to out grow #1; even though I did some LST to #1, I doubt it would slow down the growth that much.

So enough of that stuff, today is day 1 of FLOWER wooooo. So here's my first question to you all, my experienced community. When I purchased the Sensi Grow, the nice shopkeep at my local hydro store gave me some Cocotek bloom part A and B for free. My question is, will my bucket plant do ok with nutes designed specifically for Coco or do I need to go out and get Sensi Bloom parts A and B?

Cheers,
Teff

Alright so week one of flower is complete. I noticed some yellowing tips of new leaves, currently looking into the cause of that. I also noticed silver on my leaves. I'm 99% sure it's TIM from touching the lights then probably touching the plant, but if it's something else please let me know. The bucket plant has completely out grown the coco one.

DAY 10 FLOWER

Last night we found out that #1 was a male so we had to get rid of him, but it's probably for the best since #2 has grown so much. I realize now that I should've flipped em earlier because I'm pretty sure #2 is going to outgrow the tent, it's already touching the walls.

DAY 20 of Flower

Something weird I noticed. There are some pistils turning brown already, way earlier than it should eh? There are four possible explanations that I can think of.

1. Lights are too close.
However, the main top is unaffected so it would make sense if this was the problem, all of the buds in the top canopy would be burnt. Lights are 16" away.

2. Very minor light leak, plant is stressed into becoming hermie.
My tent's zipper has small pin hole light leaks that I remedy with a blackout curtain laid over the front of the tent. I've forgotten to put the curtain back down maybe 3 times (Light's are off from 9am-9pm) so it's possible they may have received a small amount of light. I've read that because of this, it may become stressed and turn into a hermie.

3. Res is too warm.
Noticed the temp around 75 F, however I have not had any issues in plant growth. I know the ideal temp is around 65, but I have no way to cool the single bucket so it is at the mercy of the tent's temp. I'm happy to report that she has not shown any negative symptoms, in fact she's been thriving ever since she was put in the bucket.

4. Over thinking it.
Just let nature grow man :)
