First post and first day of my Stealth Grow...

Before I begin, I just want to say Thanks to all of the forum for their great tips and insights. I've been reading for about a month now and I'm finally taking the plunge today. I've done some outdoor grows with moderate success, but this is my first indoor stealth grow.

A week ago I bought a couple of qudio/video equipment boxes from a local store. My plan is to have one as my veg box and the other as the bloom box. I'll be using an LED for the veg box (prob a 200w) and my recently purchased 400w swtichable MH/HPS for my bloom box. For now, I'm just using some good bag seed I've collected over the past few months from good bags that I've purchased. I'll be buying some seeds from a guy in Holland later this week but just wante dto get the ball rolling and use this as a test run. I'll also be buying the LED later this week as well as some other quipment I'll need such as timers, hygrometers, fans, etc.

I'm using a 400 watt MH bulb in what will eventually be my bloom box. I'll be outfitting everything next weekend but figured I'd just get the ball rolling today. I have 8 seeds that I started to germinate 7 days ago and just transplanted them today in 1.37 quart pots. I'm using Foxfarm Ocean Forest soil and will probably add some dry worm castings in a few days.

here are some pics. Keep in mind that I'll be using the black box as my bloom box and I'm only using it as a veg box until next week.

Comments or suggestions welcome!

Thanks...thought I'd share a pic of my most recent outdoor grow. It was using Sensi Seeds' "Warlock" strain aka as Afghani. Just smoked my first bowl of it after dryong/curing the last 10 days. Anyone grown this before? Would love to hear what you guys got for yields.

Great initial high...can definitely feel the sativa even though it's Indica dominant.

Some initial thoughts...

1. I've been debating about whether or not to take out the indoor metal framing. I initially bought it mainly because of that to hang the lighting. But now that I'm thinking that it might be better to top load the bulb so to speak. Maybe with or w/o the reflector so I can fully enclose both doors on the sides. But either way I don't think I'd need the framing. One drawback to the framing is that I lose s fair amount of floor space. Think I might cut a floor board with some and place it on the inside of framing to maximize what space I do have.

2. It's been about 5 hours now since I put the plants in and turned on the lights. Heat doesn't seem to be a problem so far although it should be mentioned that I have it in my garage where it's chilly (Northeast climate). Not sure if you guys can see but there is a small space between one of the doors and the main compartment to allow for the wire from the ballast. Until I figure out how exactly I want to mount the lamp, I'll just have to live with the small amount of light leakage.

3. I've already had to slightly re-water. I know that overwatering is a concern but the soil seems to dry out much faster than I anticipated under the blub compared to my previous experience outdoor growing.

One question for you guys...will an HPS bulb generate much more heat that the MH one that's in there now? As I've mentioned, this will eventually be my bloom box so I'll be using the HPS bulb for that. I'm just trying to plan ahead and think about whether or not I'll wanna use some kind of ventilation system and which one (ex. cooltube, passive intake w/ exhaust, or comp fans) I'll use.

Day 2 update---

Sprouts haven't broken thru the soil yet but its still been less than 24 hours under the light. Surprisingly, the temp inside the cabin doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Thoroughly rewatered as soil was dry. Yesterday, there was residual water on the bottom of the cab as a result of the run-off from the plants. It wasn't much at all and I thought I would initially leave it there to help w/humidity levels. However, the water never evaporated...I think mostly due to the fact that the residual water never had the light shine on it and was covered by the pots. I also think that's a good indication regarding temp levels inside the cab. I did wipe the water off as I could see this becoming a pest/insect issue with the standing water.
