hey guys im looking to move toward led's in my grow for no reason other than my fluros are old and some definitely need replacing. ive done a bit of reading and settled on using the bridgelux gen 2 eb strips. im going to replace my lights 1 at a time starting with my veg areas before eventually replacing my 400w hps.

so far ive got 18 of the BXEB-L0280Z-50E1000-C-B3 1 ft strips (free from arrow because the kept arriving bent, alot more than i currently need but not enough to do all my lights), a few drivers (1 x meanwell hlg-120h-c700b and a few (6) Chinese drivers a mate bought off ebay a while back (output 28-42V @300mA)) and some 100k potentiometer (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100K-Dual-Double-Linear-Potentiometer-Pot-15mm-Shaft-Knobs-Pack-of-5/152692861026?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)

the first light im looking to replace is a 130W cfl (one of those large singe bulb ones with shit spread) its in a 870mm L x 450mm W x 600mm H (2.85 x 1.47 x 1.96 ft) space. im looking at using the meanwell driver to drive 8-10 strips in series with the pot wired up so i can dim if needed.

at the moment im really just not sure on how much light i should be aiming for or if ive done my numbers right on the amount of strips that driver can handle. any feedback would be appreciated :bigjoint:

numbers right
Numbers look good to me.
Things you may already know include:

That MW driver has 215V to use up, the strips you have will suck up about 20v each in series. So 10 strips will be your maximum with the MW.....Running at 700ma each 20V strip will consume 14w (20V x .7A=14W) so all 10 together at max drive, will be 140w "lamp".....

The other drivers should handle 2 strips each, in series.

what size area or trays are you lighting...?
You will need 100W of those LEDs for a similar amount of light if the 400W was HID.
But it was only CFL, so you could need less... 300W is enough for 8 to 10 sq feet.

ok so ill keep it brief for you. using old hardwood wardrobes atm (cause free and wont accidently collapse on me). 3 cupboards divided into 5 areas. mothers, clones, 2 veg areas, flower.

mother/clones - 450mm x 450mm x 600mm (1.5 x1.5 x 2ft)
veg areas - 870mm x 450mm x600mm (2.85 x 1.5 x 2 ft)
flower - 1050mm x 450mm x 1200mm (3.45 x 1.5 x4 ft)

looking to make the lights dimmable so i can expand later on.
