I have finally decided to break down and build a cab. I have the base built so far it measures to 2'x2' and I have a 400 watt mh light. I am planning on three holes at the top of each side and rear wall with a computer fan and carbon filter attached to PVC elbows painted black to eliminate any light excaping. I will post pics tomorrow. Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. Looking foward to hearing from everyone!

Word, I like this kind of tall grow, are you planning on growing 1 big plant? Or a couple close to the middle? Also what are you using to cover the sides of the box? A curtain? I'd suggest finding some reflective window curtain of a sort and wrapping it around. GL on the grow!

I am getting ready to close it in with a wood paneling and cut holes for exhaust and air intake fans attached to carbon filters for the smell. I am planning on two at the most until I have the room to expand. I hope it will work I am spending a lot on sealant to make this thing light and smell proof, but its the price u pay I guess!

yea i really like the tallboy closet grows. makes me envious i didnt wait longer to pick one up instead of my cabinet!
would be allot easier and simpler to set up a small perpetual grow

You planning on partitioning it off into multiple sections or using it as one big space?

I would suggest unscrewing those boards that u have in the middle of those 2x4 inside bc when u start placing ur panels ur gonna have gaps. Screw the panels directly into the frame and move the boards inside the box

I thought of that bc it will be more work to do that I have more wood I'm going to frame the outside better. I'll post pics when I get that part done to show what I am talkin about. I am planning on getting that done this weekend.so is look for pics tomorrow night or Sunday night.

Not my first grow have had a couple plants when I lived with my parents, and another grow about a year and a half ago in which I did a homemade dwc grow which turned out really nice but since I moved I have a few more security issues I have to deal with so thats what gave me the idea to build the cab.

Tomorrow I am tearing it down and going and getting all the proper wood and supplies taxes are in and I can't wait any more. Time to get it done. I will post picks tomorrow while I'm working to show progress. Sorry guys for the setbacks I know yall were excited to see it.

Okay got all the frame work done(pic1)! I built a crossbar at the top to support the lights(pic2). I went on to attach the floor board. Today I finally got to wm and got the wood treatment and sealant and got it applied. I'll let that set for about 48-72 hrs then ill start piecing the inside together. My buddy gave me and extra power supply he had laying around and I got all my fans hooked up to it so I will be pulling less power but still getting the same output(see last pic)! I am gunna start getting all my stuff so I can start building my carbon filter. I found this awesome carbon filter on here where u use a car cone filter and activated carbon so we will see how it works.

Nice frame work man! I'm going to use either 1x1 or 2x2 for my beams and for more support add a few diagonally cut pieces of wood to the corners of the frame attacking to the foundation and ceiling.

Nice. I'm gunna start on the framework for the door either tomorrow or Sunday. Planning on ordering the stuff for my carbon filter either tuesday or Wednesday. I'll post pics as I get stuff done. I have been reading up on reflective materials so I have been thinking about just grabbing some flat white poster board and glue or tack it to the inside walls to reflect light better than just having plain wood. I would like to hear and all suggestions on cheap alternatives!

Yeah I just finished up the framework on my box and it turned out well! :) I've built cabinets before so a little experience goes a long way I suppose, lol. I used 2x2 beams and corner braces to secure everything. I'll be adding side walls as soon as my Mylar comes in to cover the inside and screw the side panels in. Have you consider using Mylar as your reflective material., not too expensive but not so cheap either. Bought a 50ft roll for 20 dollars when it was on sell! :)

All I got to say is that if smell is something you need to hide well I wouldn't go with PC fans and carbon filters they don't really work and there loud....a bathroom exhaust fan works a lot better

Panda plastic works well too, and cheap if you can get it by the foot and you know how much you need instead of buying an entire roll. You can hang it however you want, and it's easy to cover walls with. (Its black on one side, white on the other.)

Ok I have a serious question that I need answered asap. I have a 3' T5 coralife dual HO light from my 45 gallon reef tank that I had to break down due to a major problem. Anyways the light is only about 72 hrs old and was wondering would this make a better light for the cab. I was thinking may e mounting it vertically on the rear wall. Any ideas would help. I have been trying to fine an answer all day and havent been able to find an answer.

Honestly bro I think your better off just buying a cabinet and stepping it.
Or go buy a black Decker cabinet. And seal it to be light proof you will save alot of money and
Its alot less work.
Idk how to link im a noob but I love doing homemade shit. So I know the hard work and dedication it takes
For it just not to be what you expected.

Look at my cab my buddy gave me the Decker cab for free and i made it into a grow box.
My thread is called.

HOW TO DO A PERPETUAL SCROG!.
maybe you can get an idea of what to do with yours.
Make a veg cab/ flower cab instead of 1 big space.
Good luck happy growing!!
