First harvest need advice

It's just about time for at least one of my girls (outdoors)...couple questions tho if n e one has some info for me....should I be saving big fan leaves? Or just the little ones that I'll be trimming?....also I feel as if I should chop stems/stalks..trim them..and hang dry....vs. cutting at base and drying the whole thing then trimming?...idk...also being as they r outdoors...and maybe not at the 100% peak to harvest just yet (but damn close) but rain is coming soon...stench makes me so leary etc...so I take em when I can? rather than risk rain and what not?....so much swirling in my mind and not in the air!

Drying is all about personal preference. Its a little easier to trim if you let them dry first. Otherwise your trimming shears become incredibly sticky. Save the trimmings though can be used in cooking and hash making. As for the rain it could be a problem if the humidity gets to high it could cause bud rot.

For best flavour and even burn take off all fan leaves and leave sugar trim on the buds.hang whole plant upside down untill bud feels kinda crispy dry on the outside, and the stems are still a little flexible. DON'T DRY UNTIL STEMS SNAP! Then just cut the buds off and cure in mason jars. Best way to do it in my opinion. Good luck

So no need for far leaves or any other part to make hash with?.....and as far as curing goes...what exactly aside from dry and dense am I looking for when curing?

If you have a humidity Guage put it in the jar with your bud and don't let it get above 65 to 70% in the jar. If it does burp the jar for 20 to 30 mins and repeat that untill it gets at a steady 60-65% and then just burp once a day for 2 weeks or untill stems snap in half when you bend them.

If your guna wait til stems snap make sure there barely starting to because you don't wana over dry your smoke and lose the smell and quality .......curing is easy just do your homework there's lots of good videos on the internet watch a few a little information is dangerous but if you just take time study the process you'll do just fine not a big deal at all ......have fun and happy smokin ....peace

cheap and fairly accurate humidity gauges can be had at places like Petco. They sell them for people with lizards, ect...
