First harvest about 5 days into drying up the 9 harvested plants bad times :(

Hello everyone,

Had taken advice from various users on the site to dry my buds off in jars in a dark but airy cupboard. But now after 5 days i see mold and I am really angry!
Is there anything i can do to stop the mold from getting worse and still be able to save my first harvest =(

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

nope... its there now... next time let it dry atleast 5 days b4 puttin it in jars, cant rush that shit.... since ur curing is pretty much worthless now, ide take it out and let it air dry as long as u can and that will atleast slow it from accumulating faster... ide rather have crispy dry weed then moldy weed... dont underestimate the internal moisture

You need to get them out of jars and clip off all the mold (ALL MOLD).
When curing you must pay close attention to moisture level in jar.
Always use several jars (1/2 full) that way if you get mold in a jar or 2 you can save the rest.

cut it away quick, are you hangin the weed or is it in jars? it needs to hang dry in dark airy place untill the branches snap the longer the better!! if you have it in jars get it out and try and put somewhere dark and airy right away but u will have to cut the mold away!! just hope to hope no rot inside the bud

Yea man, agreed with above. You need to dry longer b4 putting in jars, and then burp and rearrange the buds in the jars often.

You need to seperate the moldy buds from the non-moldy buds so the mold doesn't spread....but don't throw away the moldy buds. I hear you can successfully make honey oil with moldy buds, but I have never done it first hand, and some people will not touch moldy buds for fear of getting sick

Better luck next time man, sorry

By the sounds of it we put the weed into the jars too early at 2 or 3 days (memory not too good)
I'm writing this post on behalf of my partner and I'm really gutted that i was the one to break the news to him about something he has tried his hardest to do over the past few months and now has gone moldy. It's such a shame because when we both hacked them down they looked lovely.
I think unfortunately we won't be able to sell this but personal will save some money for him. That's if we can save the mold from spreading. I never thought cannabis could be so moist and delicate! We will try again soon but I'm due to have a baby so will have to wait for a while. Even though I would really enjoy getting the curing right next time.

I have a shoe box and another small box which could fit the buds into after i chop all mold off, if i do this they will be in dark so could i put the boxes into by budbox after to keep it away from humidity but in warm but airy space so they dry out really fast?

I don't think he would enjoy watching his buds moldy or not be turned into such a small amount of oil =(
Even though I'm not a smoker anymore I don't think i could watch him do this either....

Thanks for the advice though and for the luck!

Depending on how bad the mold is I would seriously consider making hash oil out of them. Just drop them in some acetone (not fingernail polish remover), acetone from a harddware store. Just cut up the moldy buds and put them in acetone. The un moldy buds I would let dry in a paper bag for a few days before re-jarring them. You would be suprised at how long even a small amount of hash oil will last you. Better than throwing the mold buds out.

Yeah, I mean you are pretty much just taking the important stuff out of the bad when you make oil- the THC! SO even though its a smaller or weighs less than the buds, its also just the good! So just a bit will get you lit - and to me, it would be better than tossing it out. Highly doubt any mold would survive the acetone.

From what I've read, if its just white fuzziness - most people try to make oil. Once its got spots and shit, most people I read about toss it out.

I usually let mine hang for 4-5 days, than I seperate all the nugs, make sure the trim job is perfect, than spread them out on a flat cardboard piece and let it sit for a day or 2, depending on the STEMS. If the stems snap, or if they are bending and damn enar about to snap, they should be dry enough to start curing.

CURING is the most crucial part to an OUTSTANDING GROW. Curing brings out the full potential of flavor in the bud and needs to be done right. When you first put the nugs in the jars make sure you check on them every 12-24 hours opening the jars and making sure the old gaseous air is released, and fresh air enters the jars preventing Mold. for the first few days of the nugs going in the jars you need to make sure you are on it, leaving them in a day too long could easily cause Mold. :leaf:

im not sure but from whay u posted is sounds like u put ur wet weed inside mason jars and thought it would dry???? are u serious. u have to let it air dry till its almost dry and then mason jar it to slow the drying process down even further

I think were both gonna try save them first by chopping the mold off and pray that it isn't all the way through, But we will take the "Hash Oil" into consideration but It's still such a shame =(

How the hell told you to but your fresh cut buds into a sealed jar? You have to dry them a bit first my boy.

To be honest it wasn't wet when we placed them into the jars. The jars caused the dampness even though we checked everyday and gave them a breather etc. I think the change in the weather didn't help as soon as we started curing them. It is freezing and the air seems real damp =(

We both actually hesitated putting them into jars but thought this good site would have people that give good advice but really there advice turned out bad! =(

We did hang them in a dark room before we placed them into jars. Plus I'm a girl...
Well that explains everything
KIDDING! IM KIDDING!

As long as your dried them until at least the stems snapped b4 you jarred, you should have been fine.

But yeah, def save as much of the bud as possible, let them dry some more before rejarring and hope for the best.

Sorry my lady.

Yes, the outsides will dry but after several hours in the jar, the moisture will equalize evenly through the bud again. You have to "burp" them in ever decreasing intervals for a week or so.

Living is learning I always say.

You would be surprised I actually know my stuff about cannabis just not the whole curing part haha, cheers!
