First Grow with Barneys Nightshade(homemade box)

Finally got a laptop so i can start or at least try to cover my first grow!! been browsing this site for awhile using my p3 but could not start my own thread which gave me a few nights of swearing and much smoking!! so now i have it started and ready to go i will try my very best to keep regular updates! next thread soon and will contain as much REAL info on my baby girls as pos!! Happy toking to all!!!

I hope this is the right place to contine this thread! So here goes...
Decided enough is enough on buying smoke that is not great at stupid rip off prices!! so built myself a box bought some fluro lights for seedlings and veg and a 600w hps for flower also got myself a thermo hygro for the temp and humidity plus a few other bits such as pots, fans, propergater etc a decent inline vent fan and away i went!! Right guess everyone is going to want the stats!!
I started with 5 Barneys farm Nightshade fem seeds and 1 Barneys fem Blue cheese
Im using plagron soil(Royality mix-6 weeks food) and plagron veg and bloom food also pk 13-14
Start date- (5 nightshade + 1 blue cheese) 21/8/09
Germination- (5 seeds) 23/8/09 (1 seed) 24/8/09 *because im a idiot never marked which seed was the blue cheese!!
Seed sprout+24hr fluros- (6 seeds) 25/8/09
1 seedling destroyed due to no growth (7/9/09)
5 seedlings transplanted into big pots( bowt 7.5ltr i think) 11/9/09
Main light switched on(16/ 16/9/09
Main light put on flower(12/12) 30/9/09

I have only been feeding tap water that has been left out for a few days to all plants up till the 27/9/09 which is when i started adding 3ml of veg food to the 1 litre of water i give them i did this again on the 30/9/09 and may do it once more before changing over to using the bloom food!!
Temp 25.4 *c Hum 54% constant!!

Right thats it for now i need a smoke!! PLZ feel free to comment, give advice or ask any questions i know theres lots ive left out(box dimensions etc) but as you ask i will try and answer but I will prob be the one asking all the questions!!lol

Morning peeps or should i say peep!! lol thanks for the reply softwhite!! just checked the girls and they all look fine! Mighty fine in my eyes but thats what dads say right??!! just thought i would add a little story about one of my baby girls who i brutally attacked when trying to do things while still not quite awake!! i call it..The curse of the sleepy Baggins!!
So 1 day bowt 2 weeks ago i got up and had already decided too feed the girls the night before and this time rather than give them just enough i thought i would give them like a flush and put 2 litres of plain water through them just so nothing is locked in the soil so i grabbed some seed pots put them in the bath upside down ready to stand each plant on so the water would drain easily out their pots, went back to the box(grow cupboard) and pulled out my first girl.
Now whether in the back of my mind as a safety measure! the first girl i grabbed was the only 1 that had been growing real slow from the start and has had spots of yellowing all over her leaves!!
I sat her on the seed pots in the bath and began too run the 2 litres through her.... got to just over a litre and then in front of my half shut very blurred sleepy eyes i watched in slow mo as the weight of my girl mainly her now sodden pot started to slip and thats right over she went into the bath followed by the whole contents of her pot!!! NOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!! There she was laying flat coverd in soil, roots out the pot and soaked too the bone!!! QUICK get the soil back in the pot i thought but easier said then done when it was so wet it was like sludge!!! but i got most of it back in then gave my little girl the kiss of life and tried to replant her but she was in such a state!!! couldnt get her too stand upright in the pot at first and got so wound up and p'd off that i ripped her out again and left her on the pot and decided to call the time of death!! NOOOOOOOOooooo!!!
I stuck the pot with my dead girl on top, where the box is and as i put her down i just couldnt bear thinking about throwing her away so as a last attempt i buried her roots in the pot and stood her up as best as pos and left her so she was getting light but not too intense and left her, crossed my fingers and prayed!!
Some one must have been listening because from that day she has grown great if not a little better than before she went swimming!! she still has yellowing signs on her leaves but not too bad, i even think she may well be the Blue cheese!!! as here leaves etc look slightly different to the others!!

You should be able to see her in the pics but i will take more pics of her on her own and the others plus mabe a few of my d.i.y box!

Questions and comments all welcome!!

Just a quick one..... Fed all plants 1 litre of water with 3ml of veg food again making sure to let 10% to drain through(in a bucket not the bath!!) cultivating soil every time with a fork every feed! Thinking of running 1.5-2 litres of just plain water through them next feed time to flush any locked nutes in the soil and then the time after that start with the bloom food! Good idea?? well thats how im thinking but im going to be flexable depending on how the plants look on the day!
Took a few more pics today but seem to only be able to put 2 up at a time, so 1 group shot and 1 shot of the little girl i nearly murded!!

Don't worry about it man. Just take care of them and they'll be ok. Check out my grow journal in my sig my plants went through hell as well.

Morning!! Great grow softwhite, wish i could grow outdoors but the garden i have is way to small!!
So fed the girls yesterday with the normal 1 litre of water with 3ml of veg food for each of my ladies! but did notice that i could see lots of roots through the drainage holes on the pots...Does this mean they need re potting???
I dont really want to transplant them now im in flower and have just over 7 weeks to go but i also dont want to slow there growth by leaving them pot bound!! Will it be ok if i leave them as they are??
The pots they are in, i think are 7.5 litres and to be honest i could have put more soil in 4 of the pots but didnt relise how much the soil compacted once i transplanted them and added water!!(novice remember!!) but also not sure if i did put them in bigger pots if there would be another room in my box for them, as you can see in some of the pics b4, they already cover most of the grow space as they are!!
Any help would be great!!

But for now heres my security for my grow room!! Even if he looks like he has been smoking the stuff rather than protecting it!!! lol

Like i said before im damn new to this site and finding my way round all the tools, threads etc is a little harder than i expected but its prob down to the fact im smoking some really nice BB CHEESE at the mo! SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME i am trying my best and im sure i will be on top of it fairly soon!!
Thought about taking some pics today but to be honest theres not loads of change. so will take some new ones tom and take some closer shots of the plants and mabe even get a decent pic of my box, which if i do say myself im really proud of!!!! Made it look like a kids size wadrobe (will put dimensions up as well if i remeber) handles and beading etc. Wish i had made it a bit taller but none the less i love it too bits!!!!!!! Big shame is that i had loads of pics from getting the wood, cutting the holes adding the mylar and now there gone and i dont know where!! GUTTED!!

END OF THE LINE you may borrow it when ever you need mate!! of course thats if im not using for some sweet smelling girls!!! and i DO love being a ladies man!!! lol

Hey there Baggins - great grow you have started there!

I'm currently on my second grow and have also been trying the Barney's Blue Cheese... I can' totally relate to the difficulty to function when under her cheesy spell!!! As for the roots starting to poke through the drain holes - mine have done that before too. I think since you're in bigger sized pots already, you don't need to transplant unless you plan on moving to even bigger plants during your grow - and since you're already flowering, now would be that time.... anyways, i'm planning to sit down and watch the rest of your little operation here - looking great so far!! With the space you have, you could maybe even do some LST next time if you have the same grow box - maybe only do 4 plants and then tie them down and spread'em out! (just what all the ladies like...lol)

Interesting story about dumping that one in the tub... just remember that these plants want to do nothing other than GROW! Give them enough TLC and a little accident like that, this early in the game won't be a problem! My light fell on my plants TWICE and broke a bunch of branches and such.... I used shishkebob sticks to 'splint' some of the branches and they actually repaired themselves!! ....and my whole grow is in a 'tub'..lol.. so watering is easy and I don't worry about excess drainage when they are already in the prime spot for that...

Check out my 2nd grow (link in my sig) of bagseed x5 and Barney's B-Cheese x1....I did some light LST on them right at the start and was rewarded with a few extra big colas! By the way, love the security guard! Looks mean but i'm sure he's adorable!

Thanks for the advice will keep spreading the love on my baby girls and at the moment they are re-paying with a real healthy glow or as i see it they look healthy, there has been no more yellowing on any of the plants since i gave them there veg food but i do worry that as soon as i switch to the bloom food which holds less nitrogen that the leaves may start turning yellow again!! If this happens, should i top there bloom food up with 1ml or so with veg food?? Would that be ok mixing the 2(bloom and veg food) I was thinking about mabe doing this up till i start to use the pk 13-14 which i will be using for just 1 week of feeding!!
The start of the pk 13-14 will be 3 weeks before harvest!! then 2 weeks or just under of flushing!!!
My box hit 30'c this morning because me being a twat woke up at 6.55am to my alarm, which means its time to get up and get ready to open the door and window in the room where my box is (light comes on at 7am) and of course the Curse Of The Sleepy Baggins almost had me again because i just turned the bloody alarm off and went back to sleep!!!!!?????...........7.50am...........AAAAaaarrrrrrgh..........Jumped straight out of bed and straight to the box!! luckly not falling down the stairs!!! Stupid sleepy Baggins!!!!!
Opened the door and window and i also have a air cooler/ioniser 7.5ltr in the room to keep temps down, which i refilled with water and also added one of the freezer blocks that came with it, turned it on and almost instantly the temp started dropping!!! its back down to 26'c at the mo and still falling a little!!!!
PHEW!!!!! Panic over for now, well till the next time!!! lol

So what do u think peeps??
Should i start using bloom food next as i have with the veg food(3ml per 1litre) or should i give them just plain water and flush them through abit then the next feed give them bloom food(3ml per 1litre) OR should i give them a mix of both??
I know from seeing a mates grow before that once he started to feed bloom food the lack of nitrogen made the leaves turn yellow pretty quick and i know that plants tend to do this as they concentrate on budding but i notice alot of peoples grows tend to have quite healthy leaves right up to harvest time!!!
Any helpful info would be great!! just trying to get as prepared as pos so i dont go and do somthing stupid!!( Dont forget the curse lol)
