First grow update

I am well into the veg stage of my first grow.
I am growing in a 6' x 6' area using a 1000 watt MH running on half power.
The ventilation is not easy to figure out a good setup, so any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
I have attached pictures of my very temporary ventilation setup. I had to do something because My temperatures peaked at around 105 degrees. I have gotten that down to about 85 degrees with the ventilation I have right now.
They are about a month old.

Any advice/criticism is greatly appreciated.

Consider putting an a wall air conditioner in so the problem is really solved. Then you can use full light. Good luck

Attached is the layout of my entire grow room if that helps anyone give me feedback. I used panda film to enclose the 6x6 space for maximum light usage.

The only thing is my house is very old and the windows are very weird, so it will be very tough to put an air conditioner inside the grow room since the window is about 6 foot tall and a crank open window. So what I was considering doing is putting the air conditioner in a window in the hallway just outside my grow room, and attaching ducting and a duct fan right next to the air conditioner. And then have a carbon filter and duct fan blowing air out through the window in the grow room. Thoughts on that or and thoughts to improve?

Nice room, looks like an attic? The sweltering heat this summer will cause everything to die You can put a wall air conditioner in the hall but it will need a bucket underneath to collect the water dripping. would be better to get a Mr Slim ductless unit like this. http://www.acdirect.com/ductless-cooling-and-heating

You could cool your entire attic possibly like this. The condenser can be fine outside the house depending on how far it is, some people install the condenser outside on a perch.

You can also just rent a sawzall and cut a rectangle in the house exterior wall and put a cheaper wall unit in the rectangle you just cut. It definitely works. Good luck

Its well out of my price range. I could probably rig it to fit an air conditioner in my window which would be ideal.

Its actually a bedroom lol. A very small bedroom.

Also Im renting so I can not cut any holes.

Cool the best bet is figure out a way to air condition the space.

For proper ventilation ideally you want the exhaust vent at the top of the room where all the hot air is. You want cool air to enter the room as far away as practically possible and as low in the room as possible (where the cool air is)

Another idea, Some people will buy a used door, cut off the bottom six inches of the door... And install a squirrell fan in a hole cut in the top of door. This will constantly move cooler air from the bottom of the door into the room, and move the hot air back into the main space....

When you move, put the original door back on...

About 12/12 I highly recommend learning to clone first so you can fill up the space properly.

I dont see how I could practically get the exhaust vent at the top of the room. The only option I have at the moment is to go through the heating duct, which actually helps heat my house at the moment until it gets warmer out.

I should be able to get an air conditioner in once its warm out.

Once the hot air duct is stopped up, then you can figure out a way to heat your whole living area with the 1000 watt light. Put the ballast outside the room completely also. Good luck

I will move the ballast and stuff the vent tomorrow, then post an update. Thanks a lot for your input

Just cut holes and repair it later properly with a drywall patch later when you move out, otherwise nothing will survive the summer. Good luck
If I did get a new door, then put an air conditioner in the window would that solve the heat problem in the summer? If I took air out through the top of the door and vented it out the window in my hallway. Would just the air coming in through the air conditioner be enough to cool the room with fresh air? The window in the room is fairly low to the ground, maybe 1 1/2 feet above the ground, so that would keep the cool air toward the bottom of the room correct?

In that case the best bet is put as big as air conditioner as possible in the small window in main living area. Buy a piece of plywood and put hinges on it to replace the grow room door. Then cut six inches off bottom of plywood door so cool air will enter. Cut hole for squirrell cage fan at the top of plywood door to push hot air out of grow room continuously. Don't forget to make lots of clones :)
