Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree;
Your Crystals shine so brightly

I am too excited for my own good, I just had to share. I took off all of the fan leaves in prep for harvesting. Heres some lovely bud porn for you guys.

Also while the two clones climb up to speed I am so stoked to know the big LST'd one is going to turn into a wall of bud soon.

Thanks for all the positive support guys.
And wish you all Good Luck in your own grows.

awesome thread dude. I'm about 10 days into flower on t.d. so about 2 days before harvesting you trimmed all the leaves? also this is my first grow and i waited aLONG time til i flowered. i was waiting for my 2nd light. i went probably 10-12 weeks of veg so they are already huge, what problems might i run into? I'm gonna reference back to this a lot, thanks man.

Hey Noora,

About trimming the fan leaves, I originally took of half but decided to take them all off yesterday because I knew I would be busy today. I figured they would only go yesterday without them because they are going into 24h of darkness tonight. People advise that you should remove fan leaves when you are harvesting, before you dry the plants, so they are not brittle and hard to work with. I'm going away to spend the holidays with the folks, so a time crunch is also the reason I'm harvesting on exactly day 70, in future I may wait a little while longer for them to ripen a little more, which will result in a more body stoned smoke.

Theres nothing wrong with veg'ing them for as long as you want as long as you take some precautions.
First of, you must remember that they will just over double in size once they are flowered so make sure you grow space can accommodate.
Second, what size pot are they in? Depending on how big they are and how big they are projected to be at harvest, it may be smart to repot before going 12/12. A good rule of thumb is about a galon for every foot of plant. So if your girls are about 2.5ft right now, put them in a 5gal so they are comfortable for harvest and dont get root bound.
Third, if space does become an issue remember that you can always LowStressTrain your plants or you could consider some pruning. You want to do most of your pruning before you start flowering or in the early stages of flowering.

I hope that helps, feel free to ask any more questions, I'm glad to share what I have learned.

im 2 weeks into flower now, i cant repot could i? i have adequate space in that regard and im running 2- 1000 watt hps'.
i tried to search on some lst methods but they are were all when plants are in veg, alot smaller, nothing during flower. and most of the techniques were about tying plant down. any help in that regard? like what would you do if you took over for me lol? my t.d is at about 36 inchs right now , 14 days into flower.

Hey Noora,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. Repotting at this point might stress out the plant and stunt growth (to my knowledge) so its best not to. In terms of LST; the reason people start out early it because that is when the plant is supple and easily manipulated. The basic concept of LST is that if you 'train' a plant in a certain direction it will retain that shape with time. This is most easily done by tying them down with something like string (I use ribbon because it has a flat side and doesn't dig into the plant as bad). You can LST at any stage of growth technically but less of the plant will be weak enough to be manipulated. Just remember that it is LOW stress training so only LST branches that agree with what your doing, if the stem resists or feels like it might snap then its too late to manipulate that particular section. LSTing is useful to not only get branches out of the way but is also ment to expose more of the plant to light; which will help yield.

Heres some pics of my plants LST'ed

If possible take some picture of your plants so people online have a better idea of your particular situation. Feel free to post them here if you wish.
Good luck, I'm sure you are doing fine.

Hello everyone,

Sorry I have been silent for a while, it has been a really busy week.

First of, let me start of by saying that manicuring sucks. The next time I get bud that is not leafy, my thanks go out to the poor trimmer who went the extra mile. It was a lot of work and time. I began my harvest last Tuesday as promised with the 2 smaller plants. I started at 6pm and didn't get to bed till 3am. The next morning I thought would get the big one done quickly but instead I worked for a couple more hours and only got through about half of the plant. I didn't have much time on Thursday so I chopped of what was left and took out the bigger leaves and finally finished manicuring them the next day. I hung them to dry by the branch (on hangars) in the flowering cab where temps. and humidity were fairly optimal for drying.

After about 3 days from when I manicured each set the buds were dry to touch and the most of the stems snapped, so I cut them into smaller sections and placed them in glass jars. I know the drying recommendation is genrally 5-7 days, but my stems were not very thick and I figure its safer to under dry and have it sweat out moisture when curing rather than over drying (because theres no good way to reverse that). I currently have them in 500ml mason jars. The first plant took up 1 jar, the second took up 2 and the 3rd took up 4. I have not done a final weigh in as of yet but I will keep you posted.

Couple things you can expect in the next little while:
- Weigh in and harvest pics (didn't take and during the process but I will get some nice shots of the colas)
- Strain grow thoughts
- More of the next set of plants
- And of course a smoke report

Happy Holidays :leaf:

For a total of 89g(aprox. 3.14oz)

I'm happy with it for my first time but I definitely want that number to go higher. Open to any yield boosting advice.

hey man very nice thread! i am also on my first grow and growing tangerine dream. growing one under a 150w LED in maybe day 25 in flowering. i have topped mine alot, around 22 tops on her. my question is that it appears as tho it will produce massive yet i have seen the hairs for a while and they appear to be getting longer and longer but virtually no crystals still and the bud itself is not even that visible, am i just being impatient or do i have reason for concern. i will post pics asap but my camera is having uploading troubles right now

Hey LEDgrowerTD,

The attachment links seem to be broken, I'll get back to you after you try re-uploading those.

Cheers

I saw the pictures on another thread and I answered a similar question earlier. "I didn't have crystals show till about the 3rd week and even then it was scarce. Once your are about 40 days into it the colas start to put on their weight and once the buds swell they get coated in nice glistening crystals."

My only other advice at this point is that you look into lollypop-ing, because the bottom inch or 2 on your plant is not receiving light, will not produce any buds (of significance), and are taking away resources that could otherwise be redirected to your main colas.

Other than that it looks good. Keep me posted I'd like to see how it turns out.

Hey doggyd, thanks for stopping by. I cut them pretty much right at day 70 because I was on a time constraint for Christmas. I think it might have been a little early as well because I have seen others take it a little longer. Next time around I'm going to go by the plant a lot more and I'll probably be picking up a microscope before the next harvest to get a good idea of when to cut them down.

You would grow better denser BUDS with HPS....Should look into it...I know you working with t5 and that may be the reason buds are small and light! I use CFL during Veg and Switch to 250w HPS when flowering!

Hey,

That is actually the stup I ran. I have a 2 box setup a veg box with 2 T5's and then I move then into a flower box which runs a 250w HPS on an electric ballast. For this harvest I set the light at 175w due to heat issues but I plan on using the full 250w on the next round.

Awesome, have you grown tangerine dream before? Was it all it's cracked up to be? I know Tangerine Dream is supposed to be like 25% THC but I read a THC test by full spectrum labs saying they only had 15%. I've actually got a grow journal going with some Tangerine Dreams. I've got some that are a few weeks from harvest and some clones that I've just started. The buds on the nearly done ones are phenomenal looking. Check it out It's call Tangerine Dream, Blue Mistic, Ice, with lotsa pics.
