First Grow Setup - Here we goooo!

I had started this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/216426-first-grow-setup-any-ideas.html

but decided it would be more appropriate to start a new one in the correct forum.

here go's...

Week 1:

So, i have a 400 watt MH for veg (12 inches from tops of plants) and a 400 watt HPS for flowering (when the time comes), both are 6 inch diameter cool tubes. I also have a 4 foot 50w fluorescent tube that gives of 5000 lumens, i have it set up on the wall about 3 inches from the tops of my plants (for a bit more added light). I have a 2x8 closet which im using the 2x3 spot in the middle. I have 6 clones (about 4-6 inches each with 3 gallon pots 10 inches in diameter, i am feeding them 6.0 PH tap water withcalmag and some pro-silicate.

attic<---150CFM inline fan<---400w<---scrubber

My MH is connected to a carbon filter and an inline fan with the exhaust running out of my closet into the attic. Its about 75-87 on a daily range, it drops down to about 75-78 at night (depending how hot it was that day). I have also purchased a portable AC to make my bedroom cooler (and in turn make my closet cooler).

I have had the clones for 8 days days now and have seen a bit of change. Im afraid the heat might be a problem but im not sure.

I have attached pictures for you guys to check out. I took off the doors to my closet and turned off the grow lights (for better pictures) Any comments or suggestions on my setup and my babies are VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Week 2 on next reply...

Week 2

Tuesday, July 21st 2009

plant1/WhiteWidow:4.5 inches
plant2/G13:5 inches
plant3/G13:4 inches
plant4/GreenCrack:6.25 inches
plant5/G13:3.5 inches
plant6/WhiteWidow:3.5 inches

The first 6 pics are single shots for each plant, the order of the picture corresponds to the list above. The last 2 pictures are of the green crack plant, it has some weird curl on the middle leafs of 2 separate fans... im confused as to why this is happening, im almost positive they were like that when i bought my clones last tuesday. Any help would be awesome!

I also noticed that plant number one has 3 leafed fans... is that normal?

Anyways im out, peace!

week 3 was pretty slow, there was little to no growth in height but more in bulkiness. Stems and leaves got a bit bigger. it is 75-85 in the day and 65-80 at night.

Today i watered my babies for the first time in 2 weeks! they started off in 3 gallon pots so it was super wet in them for daaaaays!

Today is also the start of the 4th week that i have had them. Im guessing about 5 weeks from when they were cloned.

They have been getting very healthy, but there are a few things im a bit concerned about, but dont seem to be that bad. Mainly some singed leaves on the edges and what not, i will try adn take detailed pictures of the problems.

The plants now measure:

plant1/WW: 11.5 inches
plant2/SOUR APPLE:8.0 inches
plant3/G13:7.5 inches
plant4/GC:9.0 inches
plant5/G13:6.5 inches
plant6/WW:8.5 inches

I watered them with a 3 part nutrient system today (first time watering with nutrients) i expect to not have to water for another week or two becasue they pots are so big. I had a slight over watering problem with the green crack. All plants are looking nice. The WW thats 11.5 inches looks a bit stretched. But has 5 or 6 leaf levels which is GREAT in my oppinion. Below are some picture with each plant in same order as above.

These guys are taking off! watered them last tuesday with some nutrients for the 2nd time, they are all over a foot now and getting super bushy, i super cropped the 2 white wido becasue they were 15 inches tall, they are bushing out quite a bit now. Will have pictures shortly. when should i flower?

Looks like you can flower them any time now, just depends on what your goals (time and yield) are. I can tell you that from my first grow, the longer you wait to flower the more chance there is for problems to develop.

I started flowering yesterday, switched from my 400w 6 inch cool tube MH to my 400w 4 inch cool tupe HPS, its been hot in there since i put it in during the afternoon. It was about 90 degrees most of the night (its been hot this week) but has good air flow. With my MH it was in the 75-85 range with lights on and without it was 70-75. Im a bit worried of heat stress. But hopefully it will cool down soon.

Anyways. Here are some pics of the plants now...

The pics are in the order below.

plant1/WW: 14 inches (super-cropped)
plant2/SOUR APPLE:15-16 inches
plant3/G13:15-16 inches
plant4/GC:16-17 inches
plant5/G13:16-16 inches
plant6/WW:15 inches (super-cropped)

I recently had to start watering them ALOT more. My green crack was very droopy so i watered her last night and shes alot happier now. I will be running my light from 11pm to 11 am so its cooler.

I will psot part two with some pictures of my trouble spots...

So here are some pictures of some troubles i have been having with 2 or 3 plants.

The first two are from the sour apple. They look nute burned? they are browning and its only a few leaves on the bottom of the plant. I am using foxfarm ocean mist soil with cutting edge 3 part nutrient system. I have PH'd the water to around 6-7 but it always shoots up to high 7's. Im thinking the soil has a ph balance and the nutrients im using does too. could that be as to wqhy it always satys that way. Im afriad its locking out nutrients...

The 3rd pic is of my g-13... i sprayed my plants with some water when the light was on. im thinking the water acted as a magnifier for the hot light and thats why the leaves are burned.

And then the 4th plant is the green crack, some of the lower leaves are gettting neon green adn then falling off. Im thinking its casue thres not enuff energy for the new leaves so the old lower ones die? or is it nutrient lockout? or both?

I am by no means an expert on problems like this - when I put up some pics you'll see what I mean.

But, it looks like it's definitely either ph or over nuting.

You definitely shouldnt be feeding with every watering. Some flush every 3rd watering some every other. I guess it depends on how much you're feeding them. Are you measuring the total dissolved solids?

Did the shop give you a ph suggestion? I use pro mix which has lime to balance the ph, I water (after nutrients) with 6.2 or 6.3.

If it were me I'd go get some clearex and really flush them out.
