First grow setup help?

Starting my first grow i have 1 400watt hps have had some trouble with seed selection just wondering if its genetics or what makes a great plant and yeild any help is appreciated im looking to grow a small amount maybe 4-8 plants just trying to get some decent yeild with high quality

its mainly the time and effort you put into it more then the strain....although a good healthy strain does make it easier...I would go with a white widow or top44 for your first grow...they are fairly easy and good smoke...
