First grow, second cabinet

About twenty years ago I built a set of big speakers. (It's what we did back then). About ten years ago I took one of them and modified it to make a violin varnish drying cabinet. It had four 2 ft UVA flourescents. It worked really good for that. Somehow, a few months ago I got the idea that I could grow weed in it. I changed bulbs, put in a muffing fan for exhaust and I was off to the races. Things went pretty good for awhile. I researched strains until I found one that sounded good. I got a Full Moon Thai Sativa. Pretty soon I figured out I would need a bigger box. I bought some materials and used some stuff I had laying around and built a new one. I got a lot of good information here.

It got pretty hot inside, so I added another exhaust and intake. Then I took apart the T5 fixtures and drilled holes in them all the way to the outside. I was hoping cool air would be drawn in, but I think the passive exhausts let in so much air there is no negative pressure. I have learned since that if the plant dries all the way out the temperature can go up 6 to 10 degrees.

This is the Full Moon. I took this clone off a month old plant, then lost the plant due to carelessness. Luckily the clone lived. The next picture is at about six week after cloning. After eight weeks I switched to 12/12.feb18.jpg apr1.JPG

Here is three weeks after switching to 12/12. I was going to try a SCROG, but I split the plant right down the middle when I tried to train it. I wired it back together and it kept going. It didn't even wilt. So I gave up on the SCROG.

I learned this plant does not like fertilizer. I tried some early on and it did not do well. So it's been only water since then. I did put a soil tab in later so I guess that's a fertilizer. I also put in a flower tab when I switched the lights. Does anyone know if a flower tab will last the entire 14 weeks this plant needs. If I need to put another one, how do I do it without damaging the roots too much? Maybe break it up on top of the soil? I'm using some potting soil I got at the the supermarket for a dollar. I mixed in peat moss and perlite.

Okay, I'll wrap this up. I don't like unfinished threads. I chopped at 11 weeks. The trichomes were white and it was in the advertised range of flowering. Here are pictures of harvest time and curing. I got about 4 ounces of fluffy buds. There's also shots of the next grow starting and my skinny Sativa, but that's another story. Once again the last picture is rotated even though it is upright in my viewer.
