buying it off of amazon good to start with?
budget is a priority i only get so much to spend on this every 15 days, seeing as im not going to be able to buy everything at once i am going to buy the tent first, after that lights and ducting.
if anyone know cheap set up's that are easy for beginners

im thinking of either a 150w or 250w switchable set up but it has to be cheap.

any advice ill be posting more of what im looking for as i go on my check list.(checklist to come soon,)

so basically i have found a complete set up that will cost around $700 Comes ready to grow with 4 - (2 gallon) pots & 8" saucers, 1- Economy Mini 150 Watt Switchable light system, Light YoYo, 4" Odor Sok Air filter, a 4" inline S & P fan, ducting, thermometer/hygrometer, mini fan, and light timer. i have to buy my own soil and nutes but thats alright here is the link(http://www.amazon.com/Atlantis-Hydroponics-Organic-Grow-Complete/dp/B002CX2V96/ref=pd_sbs_k_13)

From my own research on planning a similar though larger build. You could build your own for under $500. If you are on a budget I definitely wouldn't go with the pre-built system.

Growlab GL60 (2' x 2' x 5'3") - $113 - http://www.amazon.com/GrowLab-Horticultural-Grow-Room-GL60/dp/B003ATF4WC/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1300238077&sr=8-13
250w HPS (I have seen MH conversion bulbs but haven't used them myself yet) - $118 - http://htgsupply.com/Product-HTGSupply-250-watt-High-Pressure-Sodium-Grow-Light.asp
Carbon Filter + 4" fan combo - $120 - http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Inline-Booster-Inches-GYO2402/dp/B003YFADW8/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1300238180&sr=1-1
6" inline duct fan (240cfm) - $24 - http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Inline-Booster-Inches-GYO2402/dp/B003YFADW8/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1300238180&sr=1-1

The rest of that stuff is relatively inexpensive. I would say maybe around $450 total. Just to mention, though, if you have the space I would go a little bigger with the tent and get a bigger light. Everything would be within $100-$200 of this setup but would be able to produce more.

true, but i figure if i wait a month or so ill have enough money to get all that/soil and nutes/ seeds. and the only reason i like the complete set up is because i do not know what i am going to need like every thing i am going to need.

Then you probably need to do more research before committing $400+ to something like this. But honestly it's pretty simple, just look what that pre-built one has and go find the separate parts for better prices.

well thats what im doing to see how much i can save, but i just want to buy everything at once soi can start my grow that day. ive done a few outdoor grows that have been successful but i want to move into indoors for security purpose and i can control evrything.

As far as the tent goes..dont go cheap. Ive used 3 diff ones now and hydrohut is the best. if you go with one of the knockoff tents the zippers will break, and they rip easy. Secret Jardin makes a nice tent too....good luck

Like as already advised you may want too read some more before investing. I spent about $500 total including seeds, tent, lighting, soil, nutes, power cords, timer, fans, ducting, thermometer/hygrometer etc etc. But during my research I did see what you were talking about and I do like the fan/filter assembly that is included and the hid lighting as well. I am using LED and cfl because I live in a 150 year old wood framed tinder box of a house. If you have enough funding at your disposal, why not? Just remember depending on how much you consume, it will pay for itself the first grow if it finishes well. So, why not give it the best start you can, right?

excatly what im saying, i figure if i wait about a month i can save up to buy the complete set and still have enough to upgrade some stuff. n i figure every 15 days i get paid so about every2 weeks i have atleast 200 to spend on this. i figure a complete tent would save time not really money.

I don't think it would save time other than maybe the few days in shipping differences. Even if you purchase a complete setup you are still going to have to put it all together. You mention upgrading some pieces but why not just save money and buy the pieces you'd want to upgrade at the beginning.

That said, I'm not against complete systems. I'd personally love to have one of these - http://www.supercloset.com/index.php?c=product&m=index&d=16 - because It's much higher quality than anything I could create. But, for $2,400, it just doesn't quite seem worth it.

You should check out HTG supply, they have a tent with a 400w HPS/MH switchable system complete tent for $489.95 + shipping (or $439.95 for 250w) You still need a few odds and ends. But this comes with medium, nutes, grow bags, timer, etc. and I am positive you would be happier with their product than the Atlantis system. The main drawback is the HTG one does not include a fan or ducting etc. But sounds like your budget can handle that as well. Check out htgsupply.com You won't be sorry!

this has to be stealthy in a way of noise, in a 2x2x4ft tent i think i might have a big issue with a 400w. i have seen them tho and they are nice, and with buying the complete tent i can try and see how the complete set up is then when i get more money up grade it, i mean shit the thing is portable so when i move and get a bigger place i can use this tent to start plants off in it.

Then consider the 250w instead. I have a 90w UFO and 4 35w cfl's all from HTG. I knew HID lights would be better but I live in a very old wood framed tinder box and I don't want to have to explain to my landlord and the authorities why her house burned down. IMHO the HTG tent itself is a much better product and the cost is very reasonable.

Just curious...why go through all the expense and time and effort for 1 auto? If you are gonna have the room and if you get the tent you will, why not grow several autos or 2 photo period plants? Your yield would be much better and worth all the cost.

If you are happy doing 1 auto at a time, I suggest checking out the grow box at stealthyhydro.com. $250 dollars complete. It is a cfl box and I was very much leaning too buying 1 and doing auto flowers but decided to do the tent instead. The box I am talking about has a filter scrubber and only 2 pc fans and would be extremely quiet, obviously sound is a major factor for you.
