First grow period and with a ebb and flow

Sorry to bother anyone on here but I am new as new can be. I bought a ebb and flow with the 55 gallon drum fill and drain system. I needed help with understanding what I need to do after germinating the seeds. They have germinated and I am ready to put them in a medium. What I am needing to know is do I just put them in the 2 gallon buckets or do I need to put them in something smaller and let the root system develop first and transplant them to the ebb system after they get a certain age. I was thinking that since I only put the seeds a quarter of a inch down that the water from the system won't reach the seed. Sorry for the dumb questions but I want some mary jane for myself. Thanks for any help at all:confused:

What's up rogmarick, I'm on my first grow to and I also went with the ebb and flow. Let me be the first to tell you this system is easy and the girls are loving it. what I did was I started my seed in the little rockwhools, after roots started showing I switched them into the 4 by 4 by 4 inch rockwhool, after that I waited until the roots started to show out the bottom of 4 inch and then I transplanted them into the buckets. I hope that helps if you have any more questions I will be happy to help, and here are some pics to get you excited.

Thanks alot Thinking Green I really needed the advice. One question for you is I got everything set up and ran through a system check and am having problems with my filling pump it won't pump until I take it out and drop it back in or when I take off the lid and tilt it sideways. Can you please help me in this matter if possible. What are you adding with your water.

i had the same problem, but the bad thing is i forgot how i fixed it. make sure you have the power cords connected in the right place on the con box. if they are make sure you have the hoses from the pump con in the right place. the pump in the res should be connected to the 90 deg elbow, and the hose coming from the pump in the con bucket con to the other. don't run a hose in the res from the drain pump just hook the hose to the con on top of the lid to the con and let the water drain from the con. try those out if you understand what i mean and see if that works if not hit me back for further problems.

I am about to go check but I am pretty sure everything is done correctly but let me double check. I went ahead and bought a stronger pump just in case I needed a back up one or I need to replace the one in the Resevoir. I will update later and I really appreciate the help from you.

the only thing about a stronger pump is that when the filling cycle is running, a stronger pump is going to fill the controller bucket to fast, and it is going to make the float switch go on and off so much. But if it doesn't bother you than no foul. You will see what I mean though. Let me know how everything is going when you get a chance.........

It is a bit of cramped in that little closet but I am building another room in the next few days to let them get thier walking legs.

They just showed sex last week and I will be trimming them back a bit. I grew them from seed cause I lost all my clones in a freak of nature kinda thing. After I trim back a bit you will be able to see what they system is.

right on ! look forward to seeing what happens. I think I got some monsters. measured them today and they are at 32 inches. This is my first run at seed in hydro. Gonna experiment with a few and see what works best. Im keeping track of the abuse that i dish out to the ladies hoping that it might be some good to someone someday.

Keep us informed and up to date on your grow. I have all of my seeds in rockwool so as soon as I put them in the Ebb and Flow I will post pictures of everything. I have two 8 bulb t5 split between 65k/3k and 2 leds to top some more growing off. I hope it works out for the best, We will see though. Being my first time I figure I will have some problems and maybe we can fix them before its too late for my ladies.

getting the girls started in the rockwhool is the hardest part. I went through some problems with it so if you need any advise just let me know. The first couple of weeks I hand fed with ph'd water. Did you soak your rockwhool in ph'd water for 24 hrs???

Yeah but only for 16 hours and they are looking good so far. How much light should I be giving them and when should I increase the light amount or just give me what you did and that would be greatly appreciated.

i ran my lights on them 24 hours a day for the first two weeks, and then I switched them to 18/6

Thanks then that is wxactly what i will do. How long should I leave them in rockwool

Pictures are always welcome I just hope more people join because I am about to post some pics of White Widow, Crystal and Ice that I planted last week in a hydro and soil mixture of coco and sterilized soil. They are doing great for now. I will post those tomorrow when I get a chance.
