First grow, need seed recommendations

I am planning a small cfl cabinet grow that I want to begin by around August. I have been doing a lot of research on various forums and watching a ton video tutorials and I feel like I have enough information to begin with. The most important thing I guess at this stage is to gain actual experience. I don't expect my first grow to be successful, but I do want to take every step to ensure that it isn't a total failure.

So, that out of the way, I am looking for seed recommendations. I am looking for something that grows well under cfl's with minimal nutrients, and whose size can be easily managed for a cabinet grow without any advanced techniques. Basically, I just want a good beginner strain, and I was hoping I could get a few recommendations from others who have a lot of solid experience.

Thanks :-)

Should I use an autoflower strain for my first grow??? Is this something that is recommended for first grows? I think I would prefer to try a regular strain, but I guess that brings up another question - would I be better off with regular or fem seeds?

Lots of strains will do good indoors and are popular for buzz. Northern Lights from Nirvana was exceptional for me. I did 1 fem. Would likely do fems for first grow. Cheese from Dinafem was a great plant but the buzz is pretty up for me. Dinafem has a bunch of good fems.

Autos are ok but a regular is not that hard either. Fems will save space and simplify your grow. I use fems to sample a strain then if I like it I get regulars if available and use the males to make more seeds.

Grandaddy purps, Black Domina aka SAD from Sweet Seeds, Maple Leaf Indica, Skunk from Seedsman, so many really. Something with a lot of indica in it.

I grow using preamended soil and it is the easiest way to go imo. If you did it my way you would not fail. Grows fail over nute and ph problems mostly. Preamended soil solves this. I ph adjust the water just to be sure as it is very alkaline.

Cfls require you keep them within 1 or 2 inches from the plant during flower. A good reflector will double the light they get, I used a light meter and know this for fact. Reflectors trap heat so a small fan may be needed to cool the canopy.

About 100 watts per 1 to 1 1/2 foot tall plant. My soil is ffof(any organic potting soil will do) with added perlite 20% and ewc 8% in veg. At flower i up pot and that soil is the same with added Rainbow Bloom Mix at 2 tbsp per gallon of soil.

The more you read the easier the grow will be. You will read a bunch of crap too but that is part of it. I had to come up with my own soil mix as others had me mixing 10 different things, too complex.

I would suggest a tent to grow in but if you are handy I guess the cab can work.

No tell, no smell, no sell. If you follow these 3 you will not get caught or robbed. Well, just about certainly you will not.

if ur only wanting to smoke then autoflowering fem is the way to go only produces girls and doesnt take long to harvest, if you want to breed then get u some regular seeds.when buying seeds, where i buy mine they have all specs for that plant so you will know what to expect out of it.

nirvana's "aurora indica, is hearty for me. 90% indica, easy. not nute shy, needs no support. finishes in 59 days. and dosent get huge. however, i have a few outside, and they may get huge. lol. but indoor, they are easy. and GOOD SMOKE!

i agree with the aurora indica recommendation, it is a rather short plant with good potency and yield is respectable, it takes training very well, does well in scrog or sog. doesn't stretch much at all and its cheep to boot.

My first Grow I did " Great White Shark " from GreenHouseSeedCompany!
Really good beginner strain!
Looked more like Big Brown Bear to me thou...... didn't see any resemblance to a white shark! LOL
Didn't stink the place up like other strains (which can be a good thing)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Happy Growing :)

I'd either go with an indica dominant strain such as Green Poison from Sweet Seeds, or an autoflowering indica, such as Afghan Kush Ryder from World of Seeds or Auto Green Poison from Sweet Seeds.
These are just examples, I've not grown them out myself, although I have smoked Green Poison and it is an awesome smoke!
