2011-11-15 20.51.54.jpg2011-11-15 20.50.57.jpgHey everyone.

I've been coming to this site for years, but just finally made an account today.

I decided I want to try to grow a plant, so I can smoke my own grown bud.
I am doing this simply for personal use, so I don't need much.
(I only smoke about 2 grams a week, if that)

I would like to grow inside a nightstand I have.
It is a hexagon shaped wooden nightstand. It's 18"x18"x"18".
I plan on using 2 PC fans. Bottom for intake top for outtake.

I ordered some Autoflowering Short Ryder seeds from Nirvana (http://www.nirvanashop.com/en/autoflowering-marijuana/751-short-rider-feminized-5-seeds.html) which I was hoping to grow inside this nightstand. I know 18"x18"x18" is pretty small, but I was hoping it would be sufficient for producing enough for personal use.

I'd like some help in figuring out what I will need to do.:-?
-In this amount of space, how many Shortryder plants will I be able to grow? 1,2,3?
-How many and what kind of CFL's should I use?
-Where should I place them inside the box?
-Anything else anyone feels to add!

Here are some pics of the box so you guys can see it too.
Thanks

put a 85w 27k cfl pointing down in the middle and do a vertical grow around the bulb with 2 plants, only veg 2-4 weeks train it up the sides and around the light with chick wire and string

He ordered auto flowers.

I haven't any experience personally with
autos but I have heard that they'll get to be
18" or so by the time they are done.
the vertical bulb would be a great idea with
your space I think it'll work out famously

Thanks for the input everyone.
I think I'm going to try 3 lights total.
I'll do the 85w 65k CFL in the middle, and then 2 23w 27k CFL's on the sides.

I'll post more pics after I finish it up, and show it off once im done!

Well the box is about 90% done.
I got the 85w 6500K and two 23w 2700K's.
I'm also monitoring temps to see if I need to add another fan. (After 4 hrs of lights being on the temp is ~80F)

All in all I think it came out pretty well.
I'd love some critique on it though.

Waiting of my seeds still...

Very nice stealth grow setup (:
I was wondering if the paint you used for the inside is glossy? Because if you're placing the cfl lighting on the ground floor you want to make sure that you get the most reflectivity possible. I'm sure rotating your pots frequently should do the trick, but I'm thinking that maybe applying a glossy coat is a little perk that's not too difficult to do.
Do you plan on having some sort of exhaust? Because once your babies go into flowering lower temps are better. But overall very, very nice setup.

Yes I have a 120mm fan in the top corner as an exhaust.

Also, I used a flat white glossy paint.
I also plan on rotating plants about 1/4 turn every 2 days.

Alright well I guess I might as well Journal this thing as my first grow.

I received 5 seeds from Nirvana yesterday, and have placed 3 of them between 2 moist paper towels on top of a plate, with another plate on top.
I should be receiving my Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil tomorrow, which should be just in time because these seeds are already starting to crack, and its just been overnight!
I'll keep them moist and let them get a little bigger before they hit soil tomorrow.

Also, can anyone recommend some good nutes to use for an autoflower?

Placed the seeds in small cups with soil after germinating for around 48 hours.
2 have sprouted, 1 has not.

I like what you have made, it looks great!

Suggestions, perhaps make a small reflector for the big cfl, light will only bounce so well off white paint. Other option would be to line the back 3 sides at least with the automotive windshield reflector, they are easy to work with and do their job well.

Do a little research to see how well these autos respond to topping, if they do well i would go for it to help with height.

Lastly read up on super cropping. If they really get too tall you can super crop. Basically you just bend the plant onto it's side, it will bend badly but shouldn't break. In a few days it will be upright again, this helps stop height growth.

Now just keep an eye on the leaves and don't over react to little problems, think small changes.

Good luck!

Ps I'm subscribing as I love micro grows, so please keep updating. I think I'm going to start my own journal now. ;)

Hey guys.

Sorry it's been so long since i've posted.
I ended up going on vacation over xmas break, and had a friend water my plants.
well.... somehow he ended up killing 2 of them, with 1 hardly surviving.

I revived the plant and shes looking great.
I just started to LST, and shes about 4 weeks old.

I'm suprised at how well she recovered from the stress.

I added another 23w 2700k cfl, so now have 3 23w 2700k, and 1 150w 6500k.

Just started nuting my short ryder.

Planted 3 more seeds, a pakistan auto ryder, blue himalaya auto, and blueberry gum. The 2 autos will be growing in 1 qt pots, the blueberry gum is photoperiod so im just gonna grow it in that tiny cup as an experiment since it was a free seed.

Looking awesome, I'm a micro grower myself, just not as micro as you :)

Just a tip, matte white paint is better than glossy according to a light meter it reflects a lot better, but what you have is better than nothing.
