only having 2 plants max and im on a low budget, first time grow so possibly nothing serious just a trial to see how far i can go.

i kind of know the process.

germinating
then put into a cup for 2 weeks (ish)
then transfer to big pot
start feeding nutrition after like 4 weeks.

and so on and so fourth.

would i be ok with just a normal house lamp seen as im not having loads of plants ?
if not then which lamp / light will be best ?

Go with CFL's. The normal incandescent light bulbs will not do the job. Go to home depot or lowe's and pick yourself up some 6500K color bulbs (they are marked as daylight). Those will be used for veg. Then for flowering you will need 2700K CFL's (warm white). Lights are your biggest investment so however much you put into your lights the bigger your harvest will be. CFL's are super cheap so you can get quite a few of them, and they don't use that much power.

You're going to need to start feeding the plant a little sooner than that.

You got the general idea down. Just keep searching the forums you will find a boat load of great info.

^^^ Yeah what kudaross said, CFL's are the cheapest way to get a starter light system that works and will give results. Depending on your budget maybe even check out some the metal halide, high pressure sodium, or LED light/ballast combo deals at htg supply, e-bay or wherever too. You'd be surprised what you can get for $150. =)
