A couple words of advice, first, don't start your seeds in FFOF, it is too hot for most seedlings and you'll burn them. Instead, get a small bag of seedling soil mix just to start them in and then transplant to your FFOF later. Second, you may not need any nutrients to grow an auto in FFOF. The soil probably has enough nutrients in it to get you all the way through an auto grow.

I can't help with your LED lights, never used them. Good luck!

Ik auto's pretty much grow regardless but I wanted to get a great yeild for my first grow and as far as soil I stay in the south and I've searched google for stores that sell that I've seen other use for growing and there's not any stored around that cater to these type of plants lol closet thing I've come is either walmart or Lowes so ordering soil is my best bet

Walmart or Lowes will have seed starting soil. It doesn't have to be canna specific. Any plant seed starting soil will do.

Like Bugeye said, you should not need nutes for the first 4-5 weeks. There's a post that was above yours with a guy that gave nutes too early, and now his plants are burning.

Ha, my shift is over. How the fuck you know I live here? lol. Op dude, this whatcha do, don't worry too much bout nutes, they all have the same shit in them basically. You should get a 600w quality digital ballast with a cool tube or hood, a carbon filter, a couple of quality intake / extraction fans. Then if you fail to do really great the first run at least you will have some decent stuff for the future and wont have to upgrade all the time.

Dude I had 3 bags of ffof and returned them, I'm sure it will work but i ended up going with sunshine mix #4 and my plants are doing amazing it doesn't have all the organic fertilizer in it that ffof has but your plants don't need it and like some people are saying it can be dangerous to seedlings in some cases, if you search you'll find people saying it's fine and others who say it's hot and can burn seedling. I spent alot of money on my grow equipment and decided i didn't want to risk losing my plants. The sunshine mix is cheaper than ffof too. In my opinion serious growers usually go with a medium with out fertilizer, and they just add fert to their plants as needed. This way they know exactly whats in their grow medium and can properelly diagnose their plants needs since they know exactly what they put in it. I also went with the GO BOX for fertilizer it is organic. I chose this combination of medium/fert. because I saw specific people on this site using the same combination with great results and choose to follow their lead. The sunshine also deters nats. And it's harder to over fertilize with organic fertilizer. Although if you got the know how chemical ferts look to provide the most yeild. Good luck man. And keep looking on riu for your answers. It has been the best resource i have.

if you stuck w the ffof your plants would look better right now ..... you wouldn't be feeding them yet......... not that they look bad but you would be doing better.......the "2 hot" thing is ffof getting the blame for newbie error.......

Woody - I like FFOF a lot, just not for seedlings because I've seen too many burn. Your mileage may vary.

sometimes when im feeling extra lazy I stick cuttings in it.........the only seedlings I see being "burnt" by ffof are the ones being watered 2 heavy or too often.......
You have a point there. People grow in all kinds of stuff. Pretty easy to blame "hot soil" when in most cases it is user error.

yeah like i said i bought the stuff and was going to go with it but people scared me off posting things on my journal saying "YOUR PLANT WILL BURN", and looking around i found plenty of other people saying similar things. But likewise just as many said "they'll be fine". You are more than likely dead on when u say the negative criticism comes from inexperience.

Once a seedling has a true set of leaves it's ready for nutes. I've consistently hit seedlings with 800-1200 ppm. 36' from 1000w mh. They love it. Just like the great outdoors. Full sun. Steady gentle wind. Replicate. Smile
