k, i have been growing just as a hobby for the better side of 7 years. i figured out how to germinate when i was 13 or 14 and i had been growing a seedling here and a seedling there just using the window n my room... mind you i was 13 so i was purely just experimenting. well my love for plants and growing them never went away and i have always managed to have a make shift "ghetto" garden. up until maybe a year ago i had never really had a successful grow, but then again i was never going for bud, i was just doing it to do it. my first successful female all the way through flowering plant was a white widow i got from a friend. he just gave me a whole 10 pack. i didnt have near the right kind or amount of light for a grow but i did it all the way through. didnt yield much but it was the shit.

this is my first grow since that plant. i am using a range of 2 to 6 100w cfl bulbs for seedling and vegetative growth. i plan on getting a 400w hps some time in the next 2 months so that should work out for when they go into flowering. i also may take clones and just start up a growth cycle setup. i am growing White Widow, i germinated 4 seeds, 2 made it fast and strong. the others didnt. the two seedlings are now 2 weeks old and have been transplanted into bigger pots from theyre small cups. one of the plants seems a little stressed but it is growing fast! im not going to use any newts for the time being but maybe towards flowering. and for cloning if it happens.

well here are the pictures i have taken so far in the past 2.5 weeks. including my light setup for the time being. there are also a few pics of the roots befor i transplanted. all the pictures are one of the two plants except for the last two, those are pics of the second plant im growing at the same age.

k so my girls turned 3 weeks old today. they are growing great and getting very bushy! the smaller one hasnt been growing as much as the other in the past couple days. i dont know if its streased or what but it still seems healthy. i am watering once a day and i am going to start misting with carbonated water to give it a little bit of a co2 boost. not much but its cheap and clean.

one thing tho... i figure it does but i was wondering if anyone knows if flowering time with CFL is much longer than with a, oh say 400w hps? and by how much?

k so its been a few days. the plants are both healthy and getting bushy. i trimmed the 3 lower sets of fan leaves because they were somwhat small and i wanted to concentrate growth on the branches.

the smaller plant has kinda stopped growing up. i blame it on my trimming focusing growth on the branches were i cut the fan leaves off. is there anything else that could effect it like that?

did i trim too early? should i have just left it alone?

k well its been a few more days. i guess i was really stoned the day i set my timer. when i went from 24 hr light to 18/6 i accidentaly set it for 12/12... and then i didnt catch that for almost a week. they have been on track for the past few days and i see growth improvement.
one of the plants has begun to show its sex because of it, i thought that was wierd because it wasnt even a full week. anyway, here are a few pics of the plant that is showing. im sure its a male. i am pulling it now.
sorry the pics are fuzzy.

i think you unrooted it too early. those pics arent very good.. but it seems early. also, in one of your posts you said it was female... then it shows you pulling it out the ground. females are good man.

k i fixed it. but no it was early, i was a dumbass and made a mistake with my timer and they were in 12/12 for a week. that one is no doubt a male. i have another thats the same strain and it has no sign whatsoever of flowering so i think its safe to at least assume that its a female since they take up to 2 weeks longer to flower.

k so today is the mark of the 4 week period. my plant is near 8 inches tall now and because of the early trimming of the 2 sets of lower leaves all the lower branches have blown up, making the bottom of my plant quite the little bush.

today i ordered a drip system and i plan on taking cuttings from the bottom branches in the next month or so.

here are some new pics and i will update more in a few days when i get my system.

Do you think we are stupid here on RIU? Are you seriously trying to tell us that those little CFL's are 100 watts each?

I'll post a photo of a 100w CFL so you can see what they really look like.

Look at my plants at 4 weeks. We are both using 600 watts (according to you). I only have 2 years of growing experience on you. Why do I think you're lying about something? Hmmm

oh ok. cool then. its a month old now. should i give it a full month more then flower it for a week?
Naw man its wack to take clones after flowering a plant REASON being is because your telling the plant its time to flower taking cuttings and putting them back on a 18/6 will freak them the fuck out ( you would be freaked out too if you wint from the first day of autem (12/12) right back in to spring(18/6)) and lower the chances of them rooting just wait till they are about 4 weeks old and when they have sexed its cool to clone them

it was just that at the time i posted that i didnt know that you go by the watts of the bulb not the equivelent. i have never really known much about cfls. i dont know what ones have 2700k or what ones have 6000k or any in between. i just got the highest ones i could find at walmart.
remember i have only had one successful grow and i didnt have near the right kind of lighting.
do you think this is enough light to keep a plant or two in vegitative? like a mother? a small one?
(4 26w cfl and one 42w cfl)
