So this is my first grow journal, wish me luck. I have doneDWC, pseudo Aero (just EZ cloner sprayers in tubs) and top drip rockwool (worstresults with rw). This is my first coco hydro run. I am using feed to waste forthis system. I find DWC and aero fairly user friendly and fun to work with whengetting started but wanted to get away from all the bullshit pumps andmaintenance you have with recirc. Trying to just get the best shit I can so Ifuck around a lot and in most people’s books I am going backwards. There are several firsts for me here. This ismy first grow in my new room (stoked), first with the coco, first FIM, firsttime running CO2 and first with my new nutrients- dyna-gro (thanks to thatbadass homebrewer!). I know this is a lot of firsts but most will only benefitme and not cause issues hopefully;) Here is my setup-

6x10 sealed room with CO2
2x 1000W Digilux on nextgen digital ballasts. Run one at a time depending onneeds.
Hoods are air cooled and draw from outside to outside. I control temp with thespeed of the fan.
Running 1500 PPM CO2 on cheap controller
Temps around 85F
Humidity is at 45-50%
Nutrients are Dyna-Gro Grow, Bloom, Protektand Mag-Pro
I also use some H&G Roots Excelerator and Great White for healthy roots.
Medium is 50/50 coco/hydroton with 1 Tbsp Dolomite Lime per gallon of mediumfor calcium.
These are in 5 gal. grow bags and top fed to waste.
I keep PH at 5.8 and res temps around 66F.
EC of .8 for veg and will probably not exceed EC 1.3 in flowering.

I have two strains this run. I have Nirvana Super Skunk andBlack Jack both feminized. I FIMed these on Oct. 28th and repottedon the 31st. These will go into 12/12 this Friday. I am happy tohear any feedback/criticism you have for me. It will only make things getbetter sharing experience! Let the fun begin!
Pics coming shortly!

Here are some rough photos. I will get better pics when the lighting is down to 12/12 so I can get one without the HPS bullshit. 3 plants on left are super skunk and the other 4 are blackjack. These were FIMed 4 days ago. My room is a little rough, just got done building it so I am coming out of the closet!

Here is a better shot. 3 on the left are ss and bj on the right. These are about 4 weeks from seed. They were started in rockwool and growing very slow so I cut off all rw I could and popped them in the coco. They seem very happy now;)
Update- I forgot to mention when I transplanted to these 5 gal bags I used a 25% perlite 75% coco blend. Added 1 tbsp peletized dolomite lime per gallon of media for calcium supp. Anyone doing coco should check out asked's coco thread on grasscity.

And here is my old room. I am using this for moms and babies. 400w MH no co2 or anything. Just exhaust through filter. The ones on the ends are my 1st attempt on an organic coco grow I will run when they grow up.

I've always wanted to experiment with CO2, just cant afford to get a set up. I've tried the FIM before with no luck, leaves just came out weird looking. Now I just top, and if I want more heads I let it grow out a bit and top some more.

Looks good, real good, shit is about to explode! Good luck man.

Would you say the SS is more hardy than the BL?

Hard to tell at this point. I will keep you posted though. The ss had a bad start in rockwool but came back like gangbusters in coco! I hear you on the co2. I spent the last 18 months in my closet with none of this fancy shit! My bro let me build my new room in our basement. The FIM looks a little weird but time will tell. Thanks for checking this shit out!

I took 4 cuttings to clone from the super skunk today. Just cut them, soaked in cool tapwater for 15 minutes, ripped off lower limbs and trimmed the fans. Then a little root gel and straight in to just wet coco. The picture of the single clone is another strain I did this with 7 days ago. Still green and shit. I have had great success with aero cloning but wanted to try this. No humidity domes or anything just really low light. I have these under my tray so it gets very little light for the next week or so. I will keep updates for these in this journal as an expirement.

Wicked set-up! Im in! Have you ever done FIMing before? I was just reading about it last night and it sounds like the way to go. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out. I think I’ll be giving it a try when I have my next line up ready for the big girl room. Glad to see some AZ action on here too! I couldn’t handle it there, whack politics!

Hey intrepid. Yeah, az sucks! Can't believe we got medical here?! I am up in flag which i still like but..... This is my first fim. So far not so sure. I think I cut too high and just have some stubby leaves like grotesque said he got. One looks like it just got topped and is recovering faster. I will pop some pics up for you to laugh at;) We'll see when they start stretching. Just flipped to 12/12. Wed. I had some tip curl so I flushed and backed off to .7 EC. I think the great white helps them take up more nutes so I backed off. Testing running both 1k lights today as well. If I can keep it under 85 I'll be very happy!

Here is a shot of one. Looks like it got a fucking haircut! Also a shot with my reflective curtain in place for the fuck of it. Looks like I am at 88 with 2k right now. In a month when it gets colder it should be no problem running both.

Same thing that happened to me when I tried to FIM, just some gnarly looking leaves. Looking good though! You still got time to top!! :)

I was thinking of topping them. I am only 4 days into 12/12 do you think it's ok to top now? One ended up topped and if is way bushier and mor what I was looking for.

I'll top stretchy sativas in flower but for bushier indica-dominant strains, I prefer to supercrop in flower. Subbed.

i dont understand fimming at all. i honestly think its a load of bs. i have heard people say it will give you four branches where as topping only gives u two but really i think it does nothing and topping is the only way to go. prove me wrong some1

Sweet. thanks HB! I did top the ones that were tweaked this morning. I figure I am OK at 4 days in;) These are definitely hitting the stretch. I may do some super cropping if they start getting unruly. Definitely did not get the FIM right. Live and learn!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the FIM, while you're vegging you can get as many tops as you want. Just top, let it grow a little, top again. With two topping you get 4 main colas (you already knew that) hehehe. I wouldn't suggest topping since you're in flower mode. I did supercrop my LSD (in flower)with good results.

My SS wasn't that bad for the stretch.
