There are several options for the pruning. As sb101 said, you can go real simple, and just remove the fan leaves as they die off. The plant gradually uses up the nutes in the leaves, thats why they turn yellow.
I would definitely remove any (or bend them out of the way) that are in the way of any bud sites, you want those bud sites to get as much light as possible!

You also have the option, usually its best ealier in the cycle then this, to lollipop them as sb101 mentioned. This will remove those lower branches, and let the plant focus more on upper growth.

Since you are so far along I would prolly just stick to the removal of any leave that are in the way, or dieing off. if you see some or one that looks like its blocking light, take it off, you just don't want to over do it, the leaves is how they get the light. (not to state the obvious) How far along are they now? can't wait for the update, and pics.

I don't think its wierd, to talk to them, I have done the same. I used to smoke a blunt with my plants a couple times a week. I figured the CO2 would be good for them, and it was very relaxing to just chill wit them.

i'd say for the most part you don't want to prune, even when they're getting yellow during flower. from everything i've read up on and heard about the plants use the yellow fan leaves and take back a lot of the nutrients as they start to die off. however i pick off yellow fan leaves once they start to get droopy or if they're covering a budsite or whatnot.

i forget how far along you are but i wish i had 'lollipopped' some of my ladies a bit more. light doesn't really get more than a foot and a half down my plants with my 400w hps and so the bottom branches/buds i'm getting are tiny and probably the energy the plant is spending on them would have been better put to use if i had just snipped it. first time and i couldn't bare to cut my ladies up though, so hah i'm stuck with little popcorn bud at the bottom. hope that helps just my opinion and i'm still a few weeks from harvest.
Thats what I was thinking. But ever since I took the weight out of the middle the lower buds have gotten a lot bigger. I's still gonna be popcorn bud just XL popcorn. I've just been removing little leaves here and there as I go along. Big fan leaves maybe once or twice a week. They are really big. I hope they don't get too much taller otherwise I'm gonna have to figure out something with the light.

It is really relaxing. I just started to play music all the time in my room. Mostly Beethoven, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and other relaxing music. They are really responding.

I've seen plants that do that, I may have read something about a calcium deficiency? Don't quote me on that, but feel free to research it. Unless they all start or it seems like its getting bad, I'd prolly let it go. It might simply be a trait of that strain, I've seen plants that have had genetic abnormalities, and some grow extra leaves, or in this case they may curl. Just some food for thought, I would research the calcium deficiency just to find out.

So i started using molasses yesterday. So hopefully i didn't start it too late. my babies only have another 2-3 weeks left. maybe less. All the hairs are starting to turn. does anyone know if they will grow back to a certain extent or if thats it? also how much mollasses am i supposed to use per gallon?

Honestly camel, I wouldn't bother with the molasses. I have talked to several seasoned veterans of the growing arts, and they all have told me that the molasses is an old wives tale. I don't know the full scientific explanation, but basically, the molasses doesn't actually get absorbed into the roots, it just collects in the soil.

I'm sure that there are going to be people that yell about me saying this, but fdd2blk, and al b. fuct are 2 of the guys I've talked to, and I am willing to trust about anything they tell me about a plant.

Also, if they only have 2-3 weeks left, then you should spend the next 1-2 weeks flushing with clean water. This will help remove any nutrient salts that are left in the plant, and give them a much better taste, and they will burn better. Flush them for 1-2 weeks, and then don't water at all for the last week, this signals the plants that it is time to finish growing. They will spend all the nutes, and water that they have left making the buds fuller.

Well bushiness is not really a sign of sex. When you start flowering is up to you. You are god of your little world. When you start to bloom the plants depends on how much space you have to work with. Once you flower them, they will likely grow to double, and sometimes 3x there size. Once you put the plants into bloom, they will also show signs of sex.

To put them into bloom, you will change the light from a veg time cycle, to a bloom time cycle. Veg is usually 24 hours on, or maybe 18on/6off. Bloom is 12on/12off. Once you change the light cycle it is very important not to fuck it up. This will stress your plants and they will not grow as well. Make sure that your grow area is blocked off, so no outside light from the other room get in, this can mess with your plants.

If they are just over 12" then I would prolly wait a bit longer unless you are limited on space. You can also do a technique which is known as scrog. This involves putting a net over the plants to keep them from getting much taller, and to cause the lower branchs to grow up even with the upper branchs. This is a great way to maximize yields with a small number of plants. Heres a link to how to scrog. I hope this all will help, any other ??? feel free to ask. :peace:

Lookin' good, Camel! I'm going with Thundercat and saying don't bother with molasses. I had zero bug problems and then when I dosed a couple times with molasses, bam. Bugs. It happened twice, so I don't think it was coincidence. That, and guys like fdd2blk and Al B. Fuct (who have been growing almost as long as I've been alive) are saying it is useless. I'd trust that.

The quick'n'dirty on why it doesn't work is this: plants need carbs (sugars) and micronutrients, all of which are contained in molasses. However, they all need to be broken down into forms that the plant can use, and this is done by bacteria and other organisms in the soil. You want your soil full of good organisms and molasses will definitely feed them, but you cannot control which ones you feed. Good and bad alike will feast on the sugars. Add to all that the fact that all kinds of bugs love sugary substances AS WELL AS your ganja plants, and that seals the deal for me. Everyone says it does the most in the last 2 weeks of flowering. Well, that is when the buds swell the most anyway (according to damn near everything I've read). Make of that what you will.

Good luck, I'll be watching! About 2 weeks left myself... my girls are all crystally and delicious-looking, I can hardly wait! :bigjoint:

Very well put dooby. People have said to me that "well jorge carvantes says it increases yield like 20%", that unfortunatly doesn't make me believe in molasses, it makes me not trust jorge cervantes. Its all in the science of it. The plants can't absorb sugars like that. Lots of people say they have used it on one plant and not on another, and that plant was bigger. But unless you were to do a large, long term grow comparison, I don't really feel that there is even any way to tell the differance. You can not compare just several plants they could have easily gotten bigger, or bulkier on there own.

Any way, not tryin to start a molasses war, but thats my 2 cents, and I wanted to give you props dooby!

Thanks everyone for all your help. I just started to flush today anx i'll be harvesting on the 12th. 9 days left. the top stalks have to be close to an ounce by themselves. Each one is about a foot tall and fat as a cat stuffed with a canary or seven. i do have a question though. After they've had a little time to dry do i cut off the extra leaves around the bud up to the bud? i don't want to fuck up the last process and get shit.

I tried 2 differant approaches. I trimmed half of mine before I hung them to dry, and the other half 7-10 days later after they had all dryed well. I found it much easier to trim it first. I just trimmed the leaves up to the bud, and took off any big ones. I hung the buds on the stems in a warm dry closet with a small fan at the bottom to move the air(not actually blowing on them). They took differant amounts of time to dry well, 7-10 days. I knew they were dry once the stem just barely stapped or cracked when I bent them. I didn't actually cure them, just put them into a tupperware container and opened it every time we smoked, lol. I was very happy with the results, good flavor, and nice and smooth smoke.

Thanks for the info everyone you've been really helpful on my journey. The end of my eighth week is soon approaching. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to harvest just yet. As it looks right now I might have to wait another week. The pistols aren't telling me that the plant is ready. But as it looks I might get over an ounce for each plant.

I do have one question. Does anyone have any experience with White Widow and how long it takes to finish flowering?

I don't have any experience, but since it is an indica/sativa mix it can sometimes take longer, it depends on the genes of your plant. I know I've read at least a couple grows where it took 9 weeks, so I wouldn't start worrying just yet. That waiting for another week is killer... the end of my eighth week is today and I have yet to see any amber trichs. Tons of cloudy ones tho:)

Today is supposed to be an exciting day for me. But unfortunately my babies aren't ready to leave the nest quite yet, and i'm not gonna push them just yet. I'll give them 1 more week to get their act together before i give them the axe. i'll post pictures of final product just before the chop. See you in about a week.

So my roommate broke my computer and I had to give it to bestbuy to get it mixed. Luckily though I had a warranty on it and they gave me a new one. Of course they didn't tell me this in the store. I had to wait a week and a half to go and pick it up before they say this. So I lost all my pics, music, documents, and 2 1G mem sticks. But I gave them a total reeming for doing this and they said they could get it back. So now I have to wait another 2 weeks to get all my shit back.

But in better news I got to harvest a couple of days ago. Hung it trimmed it and now its in jars. I weighed it today and it was 133.4 grams!! Off 3 plants and a first time grow I'd say I did quite well. Here are some pics.
