00Saint--thanks for stoppin by my grow. i appreciate any input. I don't have as many cfl's as I want at all right now, but i do try to keep them pretty close. the small plant has a light an inch from the top and so does the medium one. the big one has a light a little further because it still has the tendency to stretch over night and burn itself in the morning before i get to check on itself. it has had minimal vertical growth recently though. other cfls get rotated around the lower branches. i can tell i need more light soon or else theyre not gonna plump up the way i want

I am gonna keep an eye on this thread. I was thinking about using hydroton for hempy buckets as well. using vermiculite causes some people problems with ph run off. and perlite by itself is to light.

i will probly end up using perlite in the 2 inch rez and coco as the medium

FlowRider--thanks for stoppin by. In regards to the hydroton, I probably won't be using it again for a hempy bucket. Since you only water about twice a day, the medium has to retain some amount of water for the roots before the resovoir. If you do use hydroton, you need to make sure the roots are reaching the bottom or very close to it. this extremely stunded the growth of my smallest plant as it took the roots so long to reach the res in the hydroton. i was thinkin about a hydroton perlite mix, but i dunno

here come some new pics. i put a little more light in there so im up to 900+ cfl total. i could still use more, but these plants arent trained very effectively for this lighting anyways. Here is the biggest one and i think my favorite. its smellin a little bit fruity and itll clearly be my biggest yeild. i really want to reveg this one and make some clones. thisll prolly be the strain i stick with.

here is the second biggest, sativaish plant. it is coming along nicely, and the cola even split into two just a little while ago with out any training. it doesnt look quite as crystally as the big one and doesnt smell as good yet. the hairs on this one are starting to turn red, so it might be ready to harvest first.

This is the smallest plant i have. The top leaves got burnt, and im still not sure how. if anyone has a guess on the cause i'd love to hear it. might be nutrient related, but the two other plants get the same stuff and they are fine.

Also i'm seein some growth on the buds on this one im not seein on the others. i think the burn might have thrown it hermi. tell me what you think. if that is the case i wanna pull it up as soon as possible so i dont seed the others.

make sure you have 12hr of light/ 12HR OF DARK COMPLETE BLACK DARKNESS VERY VERY IMPORTANT DARK, BLACK, DARK 0% light sorry to shout at you dude but many grower dont realize how important 0%no light darkness is to growing good bud other than that everything looks good

ps place a red light in the growroom helps a lot any party bulb will due it promote budding (redspecturm power)

That 5hit-- thanks for the input. and i noticed this was your first post. as ive said before, this a very cheap grow, and i haven't had a chance to completely light proof the closet. ill try to get on that tho.

what about the leaf burn on the little one though??

I would really like it if someone could tell me whether or not that is a hermie. i kinda think so and i want to pull it up asap.

i cant see the spot on the bud ur talkin about so if u couls point it out for me bro. bu as for as the burn i have no idea ur plant isnt close to the light. so that would have to go to nute burn thats the only thing i can think of

yeah, i was kinda sure it was nute related. my nutes got a lil fucked up the other day, and i thought it would be ok (no molasses in the res, add them by hand) but i guess it burnt that plant and the other two were big enough to get over it.

here are some pics with the spots im concerned about. u can't see it too great, but besides those balls this plant has some yellow-green really skinny flowers comin out that are not covered in thc. i thought this might be the dreaded banana hermie pollen flowers. ill try to get some more clear pics up soon.

those look like male flowers to me. just cut em off i have a hermie and she see how she budded. just get rid of em b4 they can fturn into flowers. then u should be fine. these were on my female i ignored them and part of my plant got pollinated. so if u get them off her in time u should be safe

they are male pollen pods. you can try to remove them. you may end up with a few seeds. the smoke will still be good though. just pick the seeds out before you burn it. :)

thanks for all the input everyone. i think i might try to take off the pods. if they come back ill prolly just chop it and smoke it. what about the yellow leaves though? don't those have pollen on them too?

no, not the yellowing of the leaves, i know thats normal. im sayin there are these new skinny yellow-green leaves growing out of the hermie only. they aren't accumulating trichs either.

btw, about how long do i have from when it goes hermie till when it will pollinate my other plants??
