I'm hoping to get some expert advice...
I'm on the Island of Guam and doing an outdoor grow. I only have 2 plants. My plants are a little over 4 weeks old. The island is near the equator, so our light cycle is close to a 12/12. Our longest day will be in about 4 weeks at around 12 hours 55 minutes. Our shortest day is in December around 11 hours 24 minutes. Humidity is always high near 80% and daytime temps reach the low 90's. Anyways, I was lucky enough to get two seeds of Afghan Kush and sprouted them 4 weeks ago. Everything is going great, plants are healthy. Here is my dilemma. Both plants are growing white hairs like crazy. I examined them with a 30X jewelry loupe and I can see pistils and trichomes. I assume the plants are already flowering. I'm also noticing male pollen sacs. So far just one sac on one plants and a small cluster of 4 or 5 sacs on the other plant. I assume I've got hermies, but damn two seeds and I wind up with two hermies?
So my question is, what the hell should I do? I don't have the luxury of cutting them down and starting over as seeds are extremely hard to come by on Guam. It took over one year to find these seeds. Should I try and keep the pollen sacs trimmed off when I find them. I don't mind having a few seeds in my weed for future growing stock. I also don't mind the lower THC content, as I can't handle strong bud. I just like a mild buzz. I usually take one toke and I'm toasted and done smoking. The female portions of the plants look great, lots of white hairs and trichomes, so I'm hoping for a little bud this go around, not too concerned about quality.
Will cloning a hermie produce another hermie? I suspect so. Why did I get 100% hermies? I guess it's better than getting two males as I only had 2 seeds. I read somewhere that light bleeding into a grow room while the plants are in the dark can produce hermies. Near the equator, a full moon can reflect a lot of light, about .5 lux. I heard that is enough to make a plant hermie. Also, I was in the Philippines for about 14 days when my plants were about 2 weeks old. We were getting a lot of tropical rain, so I left the plants unattended in the backyard. When I got back the plants had grown quite a bit and the soil in the pots was damp. Maybe they got stressed out from not getting watered properly and turned hermie?
So many variables. I'm hoping some of you pros on here can lend a newbie some advice. I'm growing in 2 gallon pots with Ocean Farm soil and using FoxFarm's Grow Big liquid fertilizer (4 teaspoons per gallon water, every other watering). I'm not trying to grow super chronic weed, just something to catch a mild buzz on that I can grow year round due to the killer weather. I'm also not trying to grow a bunch of schwag.
Sorry for the novel. I'll get some pics up tomorrow...
