First grow! GSC and Purple Gorilla

What's going on ROLLITUP! Just wanted to post a few pics of my current grow. I am currently running a 2x4x5.5 grow tent with a 600 watt HPS in a Yield Master II air cooled hood. I am growing hydroponics DWC. The nutrients I chose are Advanced Nutrients PH perfect 3 part, along with Nirvana, Big Bud, B-52, Overdrive, Rhino Skin. Right now my ladies are in their first week of flowering. The strains I chose to go with are 3 x Girl Scout Cookies and 3 x Purple Gorilla. So far so good with the current grow. Using the PH perfect line had me kind of worried at first because when all nutrients were mixed, I was still getting a reading of 6.0 - 6.2, that's just with the 3 part. I noticed when I started adding the additional nutes, it was gradually dropping closer to the 5.8-5.9, but that's only if I mix the additional nutes, without them the ph still hangs around the 6.0-6.2 range. No biggie, I went on with what the rep's told me, and that was to NOT use ph down at all, just let the nutes do their job. I change the res every week with new fluids. I started using 1/4 strength in the beginning and gradually moved up to 3/4 strength. One week during vegging, I did try full strength and noticed terrible results. Lots of nute burn and yellowing of the leaves. I quickly flushed 3 times and changed to 1/2 strength. These nutrients are pretty concentrated, but they work great if used less then the given dosage. Here are weekly pics of my babies,

20140121_222720.jpgfirst week of flowering
20140123_001142.jpgday 3 of flowering
i started supercropping a week before and still doing a branch here and there to try and fill out the canopy later on. So far so good. I do notice that with the nutes I am using, the top/newer growth of leaves are yellowish, but darken out as they age. They look fine as they get bigger, I guess the ladies just had to get used to what they are drinking. I am still at 3/4 strength with the nutes, scared to venture out further than 3/4 right now.

Let me know how i'm doing folks! like i said, this is my first grow and no where near expert level. I still do go back every couple of days just to check the ph even though I was advised that there was no need to, just cautious i guess! Wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup in a 2x4 tent? How was your dried yield total out to?

I veg'd for 3 weeks and currently in my 2nd week of flowering. Tons of bud sites and dime size nugs right now. Purple gorilla is starting to take some color, darkish. Girl Scout Cookies are looking healthy and thriving. The first row in front are GSC and the 3 in the back are the purple gorillas.

Quick question....How much is too much when removing fan leaves and stuff like that? Is it still ok to cut off new growth on the bottom? I noticed I'm having new branches growing underneath the canopy? I did cut a few off of each plant, but is that ok to do, or should I just let it grow? I didn't want to waste nutes on lower branches not getting much light?

I also noticed that I was getting dead leaves closest to the fan, prolly getting too cold at night? so i set the fan on to a timer, 1 hr on, 1 hr off, 1 hr on, 1 hr off, and so on. Now i get a pretty steady temp of 72-79 degrees per my temp guage. before that it would fluctuate from 61-79 degrees (coldest being at night).

Wdup man...I been away from this site for while..popped in and came across your journal as for the clipping of those water leaves have at it just leave at least the top 4 water leaves on each branch every time you trim...the purple gorilla you shouldn't have to worry too much about as far as colder temps are concerned...if its a true pg it should never show any kind of green bud production through out flowering...I have yet to grow the gsc soo I wouldn't be much help there...but otherwise if this is REALLY your first grow excellent work soo far man...

So far so good. I did notice a change in humidity, and it has been raining quite a bit lately. Around the early morning my humidity hits around 99% and temperature drops are noticeable. I bought some DampAid and placed it inside my tent....it works, humidity dropped to 54%-58% steady now, and I can see all the water build up occur in the DampAid. Good stuff for a small space. I'm glad I didn't have to go out and buy a dehumidifier...extra costs in the product and electricity. All the ladies in the tent are looking really sexy and getting really plump. Smell is not too much of an issue at the moment because with me smoking in the garage.....covers the scent and my tents is so stealth right now, it's so cool. I still have my normal traffic of friends come in and out of my garage without even noticing the tent in the far corner. I will give it another week til the smell really intensifies in my garage.

I have noticed that the Purple Gorilla's in the back are growing cola's a lot larger and faster than the GSC, but then again it matures a week before the GSC, so that might be the reason.

I understand the lollipop part, but since I'm this far along flowering...would it still be ok to clip them off or just leave them?

I am certainly no expert, and would hope other's would answer you, but if you're pretty far into flowering, take it easy on the lower ones... maybe trim back one or two spots each time, you don't wanna stress your girls out. Are you using the same nutrient recipe for both strains? My buddy told me GSC likes to go about half strength on nutes, but I'm just starting mine...
