First grow - Got a few questions about my grow room.

Hey Guys/Girls,

I've decided to try growing for the first time and just have a few questions. I recently purchased a 90x50x160(cm) grow tent, 400w hps light with inbuilt ballast, 6inch Inline Exhaust fan and 6inch carbon filter.

My questions are,

1) I haven't yet purchased a second fan to bring in fresh air. I read somewhere that a second fan is not absolutely necessary because the exhaust fan will cause a vacuum like effect in the tent and bring in air from outside. What are your thoughts on this? I'm thinking with the light I have and the size of the tent it will be too hot in there with no fresh air being brought in.

2) How many plants would i be able to grow in there without problems? I want to grow as much bud as possible, so would 2 bigger plants be better than growing 4 or 5 smaller ones. Was thinking about getting some SnowRyder auto flowering seeds and trying to go 5 plants.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I would say for the ventilation issue the best way is to hang a thermometer in your grow tent and run it for a good few hours come back and then check the temp. that way you know for sure - its always easy to make adjustments and sort your issues out before your start growing.

I would think that if you wanted the most bud possible that many small plants growing at the same hight (aided by pruning, lst, scrog) would make the most effecient use of your space and energy. you just have to be careful in making sure there is always plently of air exchange as mold can be a problem in cramped setups like that.

Thanks for the reply mincemeat,

Good idea with hanging the thermometer. I'll set it all up and see what the temps are like and then can get another fan if needed. I think i'll just put three or four plants in there and then I can take one or two out if it gets too cramped.
