First grow, First Harvest - 4 strains

Hey Guys,

I wanted to open up this thread because I have 2 - 2x4 tents with 4 plants total and 4 different strains and I wanted some advice on when to chop. This is my first grow so I'm worried I'll chop too early/late. Instead of 4 separate threads I'm just going to keep updating this one.

I'm using a HPS and a weak UVB reptigrow CFL light in each tent. Soil grow, FF nuts and FFOF soil. Pics were taken this morning - which is their 53rd day.

The following are my strains and what the breeders recommend as flower time:
1. THC Bomb (55-65 days)
2. 707 Truthband (65-75 days)
3. Pineapple Express (53-60 days)
4. Amherst Sour Diesel (65-75 days)

At 53 days I'm thinking the 707 is almost ready...what are your thoughts? I also snuck in a picture of the THC Bomb. Thanks!707-1.JPG 707-2.JPG 707-3.JPG 707-4.jpeg BOMB.JPG

I moved my first THC bomb into my flowering tent two days ago :)
I'll follow your grow, keep us updated :)

Does it currently look like a bigger yielder than the rest of your strains?
HerbiesHeadShop touted it as an extremely heavy yielder

It's hard to tell - again, first grow. If I had to guess though, it's probably going to be my highest yielder. The cola's are awesome! Massive, thick, covered in crystals. If you were lucky enough to get a free Amherst Sour Diesel from Herbies, I'd recommend popping it. EXTREMELY vigorous.

They look very nice, almost ready to harvest, the pistils are amber which shows they are close to or ready, if the trichs are cloudy with maybe 10 to 20 % amber, harvest.

For anyone interested - here are all 4 ladies in their tents at day 50 as a full shot.

In order, they are:
1: THC Bomb
2: 707 (grower not a shower - her entire stems under that canopy are dense buds)
3: Pineapple Express (very finicky - prone to PH issues as I ran all 4 plants exactly the same)
4: Amherst Sour Diesel

The number of days is a total rough estimate, go by what the plant themselves tell you, not the number of days.
I personally like my flowers RIPE, I want to see calaxs swollen as if they had fat seeds in them.... Look for nicely developed little globes on top of the stalks, wait till they look like they are ready to rupture and 10-20% are amber or amberish.

Really great looking plants for your first effort. Were you already very knowledgeable? Don't be impatient at the end.Congrats, enjoy!

Thanks! I appreciate the comments! It's a funny situation actually. I am a crazy person when it comes to research. I read all I could and then grew these girls in a modified kitchen cabinet with a 125w CFL for 5 weeks. My friend in a different city took them off my hands and he has literally NO knowledge of plants whatsoever. Through the magic of Facetime he's been my surrogate as I've walked him through every watering and every step of the process.

I ran track in high school/college and it was all of the little things that I consistently did that added up to make me a good athlete and I used that concept for growing. The right nute plan, the right water schedule, the right light distance, etc. I scrutinized everything and if I could do it all over again (which we are working on Gen 2. now) I would change quite a few things.

They may look pretty but who knows, I could end up with a total of 4 ounces of really good looking buds that smoke like crap!

So due to a scheduling conflict, my buddy has to chop the 707 tonight instead of Sunday. That means it got a full 8 weeks of Veg - 56 days. He's only getting the top colas. Here's what she looked like this morning. She was said to have a really red/purple hue according to the breeder and it definitely came true. I don't know what it smokes like but to get that kind of purple/red tint to the buds for my first plant is fun! Did I mention she was a freebie?

Nice job, question, what brand tents , AND, do like how they worked for your grow, (looking on picking up one )

Gorilla Grow tent - 2x4. I think the more ideal size would be 3x3 with a single plant. It's great, sturdy, worth every penny. A non-issue for me.

The final result of 707 is being cured right now but it's about 2.5oz of dry solid bud and about 3/4oz of really frosty trim that's going to be made into QWISO this weekend. The second harvest will probably yield maybe an oz or so of decent stuff and then a few oz of cooking/extract larf! Pretty happy with it and can't wait to work on the rest of the girls in the next few weeks - this was by far our smallest plant.
