Im starting out with 3 Northern Light seeds in my 6 sq/ft closet. Ill be growing in Coco Coir with Perlite in 3 gallon Smart Pots and using Canna Coco A&B for the nutes. Ive read that 7000 lumens per sq ft is ideal for quality buds. So I need 42,000 lumens cause ill be growing in a 6 sq/ft closet. So Im getting 11x65w CFL bulbs getting at max of 4,000 lumens, also im mixing the 65004K & 2700K lights for both growth stages. I just want to make sure that this lighting will be fine for my 3 plants and my set up is good for a first time grower??? Please any advice would help and be greatly appreciated!

don't bother with small HID lights... If you're going to stay under 250Watts then just do CFL, and don't you dare waste your money on one of those huge 150Watt CFLs- get a bunch of smaller bulbs for cheaper, with better heat control, more lumens/watt, and more versatility for distributing your light.

Thanks for that! But ill have 11- 65w cfl bulbs. Which makes 715w. But I feel like that will be very good lighting. Im using reflectors as well. And my growing space is pure white. I dont wanna use HPS or MH bulbs since this is my first grow. Does my lighting seem good for 3 plants in 6 sq/ft area?

That works out to 119 watts/ ft2 so yes it will totally work. But with growing one thing leads to another so the concerns above about heat- ventilation and likely odour will need to be addressed once the girls are up and growing. Ideally this is planned out first but the grow show process takes some time so I know I want to get things growing ASAP. Enjoy and good luck.

That many cfls will make your area too hot. You will need more than a fan moving air around. You will also need to look into odor control. I have vegged with cfl just using 6x23watt which was sufficient for veg def need more for flower, I was using 400 hps for flower. Those cfl get hot and you really don't want temps over 85. You should check out some journals with guys growing with cfl to get an idea of hat you need. It isn't as simple as buying some cfl from Home Depot and throwing in your closet.
