First Grow ever attempted. Long time smoker, first time grower :P I’ll try to keep you up to date if anything interesting is going on. I really have the itch going on. Basically I got the idea to grow when my buddy was gonna give me a clone. I ended up germing a seed from a bag of his finest and it took off. Now that this has taken off a lil bit I am gonna experiment with this as my first experience and then take him up on the clone when I am better with these things! Enjoy, and Please help me out!

P.s. I know the downsides of tin foil… I’ll fix it one day.

1 week from beginning germination

Brass Tax
- 1 x Cheapest thermometer I could find.
- In-Line Electric Timer
- Heavy duty power bar
- 1 x 42watt CFL –Daylight ( 2700 lumens)
- 2 x 13watt CFL – Blue Spectrum (850 Lumens)
- 2 x 18 watt CFL – Daylight (1100 lumens)
- 2 x 23 watt CFL – Daylight (1600 lumens)
- 1x 500 watt Computer Power supply (Hot jumped Green wire to grounding wire to
create an ‘always on’ effect.)
-2 80mm fans @ 2600 rpm (built into supply.) (Intake/Outtake)
1x 60mm Stealth Fan @ 2600 rpm 20Db (Intake)
1x80mm Nexxtech fan @ 3000 rpm 30db (Outtake) (120v Wall plugged computer fan!!!)
1x60mm (?) asian after market fan @ 3600rpm 26Db (Intake)

1 Seed – White Widow (However found in a bag, so who knows what will happen… again, my buddy was meticulous in keeping his strands separate.)

Day X –
The Smoke that started it all…
I roll over to my friends house like any other day to pick up a couple g’s of his finest. He informs me that over Christmas hes been growing some really fine crop , however it was at premium dollar. He showed me the operation he had going… I say looking back he had 1 mothers, 4 flowers and about 20 clones with 2 hid lights. Certainly, he had a set of Strawberry pure breds, as well as a set of WW. We discussed possibly setting me up with a small setup and a clone one day… Anyways back to my story. On my walk home I realize just how dank this bud is, I could smell 2 grams in my hoodie pocket through my jacket and through my hoodie. Of course its winter time here, with lots of snow on the ground so That was an impressive smell through my snow gear! I couldn’t wait to try this. Upon walking into the apartment my roommate informed me I reeked of weed when I walked in… at which point I still had my jacket on.

We sit down to smoke, both really stoked. After talking for a while about getting a clone, and a couple bowls into the session I go to light the bowl and see a beautiful seed sitting right on top of my bowl. I quickly plucked it up, and using the Ziplock + papertowel method I got it straight onto the radiator to begin germination.

Day X2 –
If you build it, they will bud…
[FONT=&quot]While I waited for my seed to germinate, checkin it regularily, I hit up the local Canadian Tire and got some supplies to work with. I ended up with a 3000 lumen CFL, Tin foil, and a computer power supply with a couple auxillary fans. The initial set up was in a tall mattress box lined with tinfoil with the CFL on a clamp light midway through. This was enough to bring the fresh seedling, now germinated, to the surface and crack its cotyledon. I felt this was efficient… but The worry wart got to me and I decided cardboard wasn’t good enough. I disassembled the original unit and began work on my now existing structure. I removed all the books from a nearby bookshelf (about 1.5’x3’x3’) and began lining it first with garbage bags, and then with tin foil. From there, I added my power supply, auxiliary fans, a sub floor for open bottom venting of fresh cool air. I will diagram this later in the post. Lets get on too the good stuff… Images:

p.s. I am now 8 days after I first put it on the radiator for germination, and since the last pic not much growth has occured. 1 of the two cotyledons was choked off by a shell casing and fell off. The first leaves however have begun and I assume the photosynthesis available from the two leaves should more than make up for the coty... but who knows. anyone got any experience with this? Thanks and enjoy.

actually the same thing happened to me with my little plant, one of the first leaves was killed but growth resumed as normal, only a small delay in growth time, dont worry about it.

generally I dont run it covered up like that unless I know someone is coming over that I dont want to know about it and shutting my door wont suffice... Totally enclosed it runs at about 30 degrees, normally though about 28. anyone have any ideas of how to get the temp down a little more?

err just realized you guys use Farenheit.... so anyways it normally runs at around 86 degrees enclosed or 82 as I normally have it.

I used bottled ice. Throw a bottled water in the freezer, and put it in there. Or a couple of ice cubes.. yeah.. cubes are better for you, here.

wouldnt you be worried about condensation collection ? Just a though, guess you could put it on a towel...

anyways... thought I would fill you in with a 4:20am post haha... here she is today... I rearranged some of the lights including putting my 42watt right at the plant, as well as changing all the 13w's to 23w's. as you can see, I ve moved to more of an open concept during the day when I have the extra power pumpin! anyways... time to burn it down, burn it out, and hit the sac.

Peace

Update : completely overhauled my operations. I took all the mechanics out of a mini fridge and converted it for growing using my lights, power supply, and fans! Pics will be posted soon. Cheers.

Canadian tire. They are Noma brand 13w... they also had Yellow ones and green ones... I wish they had some red ones I would have got a rainbow haha... I know however from years of biology class green light is only 10% efficiently absorbed due to chlorophyll refraction of green spectrum light. the yellow ones might be interesting though... hmmm....

as you can see the clones came in today... had to walk 10 blocks in the snow with them in my backpack... hope all is well... this is about 12 hours after they were introduced to my seedling. again, all white widow... wait does this mean I am cheating? lol

Converting the minifridge was pretty easy... alot of screws and removing of wires, but you end up with a wicked frame and pre drilled holes. If you notice, The shelving from the door of the fridge has been removed, this leaves a 1 inch gap between the fridge and the door when its closed, plenty for venting. also because the cables from the fridge came up through a small hole in the frame, I widened the hole to fit my wiring as well... pretty easy stuff for sure...

As far as being closer I change my lights around alot, right now I got my 42watt around 2 inches away from them except the seedling which is about 7 inches away and predominantly blue lit.

I assume I am putting out enought power... I have about 7000 lumens with all kinds of spectrum actions going on in a very small space. its lit.

P.s. the clones are looking much stronger and are standing up at attention. the stomate(?) is clearly creating new growth on the top of all 3!
