First Grow- DWC Hydroponics & CFLs

so we'd like to make our op a perpetual grow. I like this cloner setup<http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=10225&page=1&pp=15> anyone built a setup like this or suggest something similar. Were looking for inexpensive, simple yet effective.


Update: Our plants look great, i added some water to the res today and increased the nutes a little. when i got home from work i was please to see the plants had grown into the lights i already moved up this morning:)

P.S. my 21th b-day is tomorrow and im about to rage.
 
yeah man that seems like a really good way to do it i did something like i saw on a site here my second time to clone it was a mini cloner i dont remember who posted it but it was a how to and i did it it is a rubbermaid 3 gallon tub with holes in it and a few airstones hooked up to a pump i have it in my grow journal all of my clones rooted in it and are in soil now i was impressed with it.
 
Hydrobandits, just do the same thing you did with your main setup but with smaller holes in the lid and get some jiffy plugs. That's what I use and I have had 100% success using my bubbleponics cloner.

Thank G, yeh were thinkin the bag seed def has some indica in it. about ppm, im not sure at the moment bc i dont have a metter. Currently were using around 2/5 strength nutes and we change the res every 10-12 days.

And were still veggin, but im thinkin we might start flowering soon cus our biggest girl is takin over the grow space, she is a wide load.

Well all is well in Mary-j land. plants look swell.

Problem: Our bag seed is getting huge, its only 8-10in tall but the bitch is 12-14 inchs across. she is starting to cover some of the little seedlings.

I have been thinking i might trim some of her fan leaves and take a few cuttings?

I want to flower next week and the larger plant is def. ready but the seedlings are only 2 weeks old and 3-4 inch tall. I've read some journals of people going 12/12 from seed and getting decent yields. what would you guys suggest we do? the seedling are durban poison(near 100% sativa) so they wont bush much butt the other girl is a wide load.

we currently have a battle for the top left. our space is getting crowded with 5 plants and everyday there are new leaves that over lap each other, seems like they are fights to get the top to get the most light. :)

will put up some pic tomorrow or sun.

i want to flower so bad but im waiting till the little guys catch up and gain some size. waiting is hard huh
 
Today were gonna light proof our cabinet for we will begin flowering soon. plus change out the res water and increase nutes. gonna do 1/2 strength now.

What are your guys thoughts about trimming our bigger plant to make her skinnier? she has branched out too much and is starting to cover the other plants. Should we cut this bitch back? just fan leave? or branches as well?

I wish I had the answer for you on that plant. Have you been able to sex it yet?--I missed that if you did. That sure is one short stocky bitch, huh! Awesome looking plant, that is for sure. And it would really be a shame to have to trim any of her. Maybe you can just top her and use a couple of the branches on the inside for clones? I wouldn't take any leafs unless completely necessary; and the same thing: just towards the inside.

Well, I am really curious to see how that plant turns out! She might be an excellent pheno for a sog grow:hump:

I agree completely with growinman, I just light proofed my room yesterday and flipped the switch last night. Ill have new pics up later hit em up. That one short plant is soooo indica lol. good lookin shit homie!

yeh i think were gonna do that soon, we need to set up a new area to veg the clones tho, cus were gonna use our current one to flower in.

prob just put them up on a table and throw a couple of cfls at them.

p.s thanks growman and ru8 for the input. nice to have some universal agreement
 
yeah man sounds like a plan i forgot to post pics of my clones but they r growing like crazy i am amazed with them.
 
we took two clones last night. and they look good today. were working on making a clone box.

we will have pics of the clones and our new light proof cab later.

Question: how important is 100% light proof? i'd say ours is near 98% cus we used Velcro on the door and some(very little but some light comes through) Should we be concerned when we start flowering?
