First Grow CFL in 3x3 Tent

I have done a lot since my last post. I have gone ahead with fully mainlining all three plants and have tied the two mains down. I have topped the two mains and am now waiting for the 4 mains to grow in. I also believe I have fixed my over watering problem, I let the pots dry out for 4 days and then gave each plan 1 liter of plain 6.5 ph water. I am aiming for 8 mains so there should be one more top needed sometime next week. I am hoping to put them into flower in about 2 weeks but will have to see how they fill out. Want them to be about 1 foot tall when going into flower.

Why are you flowering when they reach 1 foot tall?

So its been a few days since my last update. I have transplanted them all to larger pots as well as done some trimming. I am going to be mainlining these plants and I did some initial trimming to get that started. On Random2 I trimmed everything but the third node from the roots to start the manifold for the mainline. I left the third and fourth nodes on both ice and random1 just to give them a little extra energy to grow those nodes out. I had some yellowing on the lower leaves of ice but I think it was just a lack of nutrients after the transplant. I have since given them all a full strength feeding. I have also removed the yellow leaves with the trimming I did.

Here are some pictures from the last few days as well as before and after the trim.

hey man cool thread. i just started my first grow with nirvana seeds little over a month ago. ive got 2 raspberry coughs 2 jack horrors and a papaya plant going under 2 280 watt Dirt Genius LEDs. i just 3 days ago planted 2 of each germinated seeds into soil under cfl's which i have never grown under before. ive got 6 of them under 2 cfl's (not sure of wattage) 24 hours a day. any tips? should i change them to 18/6? this is only my second time growing, including my other 5 plants(samestrains) first grow has been completely under leds but figured id start about firsttwo weeks under cfls. saw you have your plants on top of an ice tray, do you use that to catch run off to see/test? or do you freeze the ice trays to keep it cool in there? any help would be coo mannn.

This is my very first grow so I am still learning but the things I have come across so far is keep the CFL's as close to the plant as possible without causing heat problems. The only reason I am doing 18/6 is because of the heat issues I was having. I have the lights off in the middle of the day when it is hottest. I would say if you dont have temp problems 24 hours would be ideal but you might want to add a few more CFL's for 6 plants if you plan on keeping them under there for very long. The ice tray was just to catch the run off as well a raise the the plants closer to the light. My light was as far down as it would go and they were about 6 inches away. The ice tray was just something I had laying around to boost them up a little higher.

My temps are pretty high in my tent right now. It is at 85 with lights on and 75 with lights off. Have you heard of a way to cool the tent without using an ac unit?View attachment 3229499
I use 2 6 inch cpu fans, intake blowing cool room air over water on rez temp68-75, exhaust on the top(heat rises) also a small fan blowing upwards under canopy, I removed bath recirc fans because they could not keep it cool enough, No probs now, exhaust temp 80-90. cpu fans run on old power supply from puter, and I can add more but hasn't been necessary.Running 3 105w cfls, and 2 led panels. Plants seem to take the heat ok, but rez water was my biggest issue/

Just a few pics I took this morning. I haven't really changed anything since my last post. Really just waiting for the third set of growth tips to come in. They started coming in yesterday just need for them to grow out a bit and then I plan on switching to 12/12 probably some time next week.

I just did the final top on all three plants today. Now just waiting for 8 mains to grow out a bit. I am going to stick to my plan of flowering when they reach about 1 foot tall. I have about 5 growth to go.

I did the final trim job on both plants so I am left with just the 8 mains on each plant. Now just have to wait a while for the tops to grow out a bit. I am hoping to switch lights sometime next week but it depends if these tops grow out quickly or not. I am looking to start flower at about 1 foot or about 6 nodes on each branch. I have each plant under 160w right now. The first 3 pictures are Ice and the other three are a random strain. Still has not shown sex but hoping for a girl. Already had to pull one male.

Its been a while since my last update. Plants are doing good but I think I am going to need a few more day before switching to 12/12 lights. Both plants have 8 tips with 4-5 sets nodes each. I think I am going to let them grow out 2-3 more sets of nodes before flowering.

All three seeds were germinated in paper towel. I transferred all 3 into soil last night and put them into my tent. I will turn the lights on as soon as they break the soil. I am having trouble with heat as my temps are in the upper 80's but I have heard that warmer is better for seedlings. I am going out to get another fan this weekend. View attachment 3218015
What are you using for your CFLs & a reflector.. The concept looks amazing.. I just started a grow in my closet but heat is a big issue as well... What kind of fan would you be getting?

The light "reflectors" are just dish washing tubs from Walmart. Their not the best but I guess its better than nothing. I have 4 40w CFLs on each plant. I got a 6" inline fan to exhaust the heat but I have found that the most important factor is the ambient temperature in the room.

Did the 6" incline fan take care of your heat problem? Just asking because I have 3--2 week old plants and during the day it gets up to 80 (in my tent in my closet) and I have a 4 inch incline fan ordered and it should arrive tomorrow with 192 cfms. I hope it does because portable air conditioners are expensive and loud.

Ok that's good to know... I'm having heat issues & have to 4 inch fans... Imma upload my closet set up...
