First grow and open to guidance :D

Hey Everyone!

I just got my first clone from a local dispensary a week ago now. I am just growing for my self to have some fun and experiment with this wonderful plant! In the future, I hope to get a little more involved and create an indoor setup.

The strain is Super Silver Haze.

I am going to post some pics and want opinions on what can help my plant to grow a little bigger, but also bushier. I know that this particular strain likes to get tall, but I believe with restricting the pot size and possibly topping I can control its height. I have also tied down two branches to allow them to access the light more.
I water the plant whenever the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry and I have been fertilizing it once a week with 7.5-15-7.5 (I cut the original formula in half because I was concerned with over fertilization).

It is already showing preflowers and I am not sure if this is a bad thing because I have read mixed ideas. Some say that this means that the plant is sexually mature, but can continue its veg. growth and some say this means that the plant will continue into flowering no matter what. I obviously want the plant to get a bit bigger before it goes into full fledged flowering.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!:-o

Welcome to RIU :) Best thing you can do:

thepiratebay.org

search: marijuana

download anything that is a grow video. :) Most are fantastic!! They cover all the bases in a quick time frame.

Next up since you already have a working plant, restricting pot sizes is a great way to kill your plant. The way you reduce the finishing height of a plant is to reduce the time in veg! If you want it to be 3 feet tall when its finished, begin flowering when its around 12-14" in height. Easy enough right? Plants generally double or triple in size from their Day 1 Flowering height.

Good luck!

Thanks for the resource!

Right now, I have it in a 1.5 gallon pot and it is about 10" in height. It is growing outdoors under the sun, so I don't really have any control on when it will begin flowering.
Will I need to transfer it into a larger pot? Can I still restrict its height even though I can't control when it goes into flowering?

Don't trip on the preflowers. You're probably fine. They should get some veg time in before they flower.
