Hello everyone! This is my first grow after I researched on the subject substantially. I'm sure I still have PLENTY to learn but I hope you learn from this journal and I can learn from you as well. I'll be growing six feminized Purple Kush plants in soil. I will be filming a time lapse video of the grow as well. Details below!

Comments and discussion welcomed!

My setup:
- Secret Jardin Dark Street II Tent 5ft x 5ft x 6.5ft Tall (DS150II)
- 6" Cooltube XL Reflector w/ add-on 26" x 25" Extra Large Wing
- 600 watt iPower Digital Dimmable Ballast
- 600 watt iPower Hortilife Super High Pressure Sodium Bulb (85,000 Lumen @ 2100k color temp)
- 600 watt iPower Hortilife Metal Halide Bulb (55,000 Lumen @ 6500k color temp)
- 6" High Output In Line Duct Fan 435 CFM (for carbon filter)
- 6”x24” Funk Filter Carbon Air Filter
- 6” Booster In-Line Duct Fan (250CFM each) (one for cooltube and one as fresh air intake for the tent)
- Speed Bully Motor Speed Controller for high output fan on the carbon filter.
- Small desk fan for air circulation inside the tent
- Soil is 3.5 gallons pro-mix organic vegetable & herb mix with 4 cups of worm casting compost mixed in.

Germination (Started Oct 21st @ Noon):
- Seeds were placed in a glass of water (used bottled water) temperature was kept at 24C (75F).
- Seeds were removed 18 hours later at 6:00am on Oct. 22nd and transferred to moist paper towel between 2 plates. Seeds had cracked and the taproots beginning to emerge. Temperature still at 24C (75F).
- Three of six seeds were ready to plant 24 hours later at 6:00am on Oct. 23rd and the last three at 4:00pm, all taproots were about 3mm(1/8in.) long when planted.
- Seeds one through five sprouted at 6:00am on October 25th with seed six sprouting 12 hours later at 6:00pm.

Details as of Day 1 Sprouting (Sat. Oct. 25th @ 6:00am):
- 600 watt cool tube MH lamp is currently 24 inches above the seedlings on day 1 sprout.
- Air temperature inside the tent is 25.5C (78F) with 600 watt MH light at 100%
- Soil and seedling surface temperature tested with infrared thermometer 24C (75F) with light at 100%
- Soil PH tested at 7.0 using soil/pill/water rapitest kit
- Humidity at 51% (low for seedlings, can't seem to get it bumped up. Probably because of the air exchange rate with the high output fan)
- High output fan on the carbon filter running at about 75% or 300 CFM. Not necessary at this stage? Just getting comfortable with the setup I guess....
- Intake fan running at 250 CFM. Roughly 50 CFM less than output. Negative pressure inside the tent.

Day 3 Sprouting Update

All the seedlings look good! Seedlings are still under 24/0 light. I dropped the 600w MH reflector with cooltube down to 18" above the seedlings as I was concerned with stretching on plants #1 and #3 as they were 2.5 inches and considerably longer taller than the others. The light was dropped 24 hours prior to taking the pictures in this post. I also added about 1cm (3/8in) of dry seedling soil around the base of #1 and #3. Seedling and soil surface temperature remains constant at 24C-25C (75F-77F). Air temperature is sitting at a constant 25C (77F). Humidity sits at a constant 50%-52%.

Seedling #4 is growing quite rapidly, seems to be putting more of it's energy into leaf development rather than height. It is also a much lighter green, almost yellow and it's been like this since day #1 of sprout. I'm not sure if this is a result of it growing really fast or a more serious underlying problem. It looks like the fastest and strongest plant of them all even though it was planted 10 hours AFTER seedlings 1, 2 and 3. Should I be worried? First thought is nitrogen deficiency but I can't see how that is possible if it's the biggest so far, even bigger than the deep green seedlings!

I'm in. Any particular breeder attached to those seeds?

Looks like you have it fairly well figured out

Seeds are from Crop King Seeds in BC, Canada. Under genetics it says "Cali Purple Kush - Original Kush" and is listed as 75% indica.

Day 6 Sprouting Update:

On day 6 I decided to replant all 6 of the seedlings. I feared that my growing medium was going to have poor drainage and hold too much moisture. I mixed about 1.25 liters of perlite into each pot and mixed the soil up real good before placing the seedlings with their root balls back into the pots. 600 watt MH lamp is now 24" above the plants as I have curling of the leafs at the very edges and I suspect heat stress. Plant surface temps WERE reading 27C(80.6F) with the infrared thermometer but are now reading 25C(77F) after raising the light. Onto the pictures!

Please point out any potential problems you think you can identify!

Plant #2 - Day 6 Sprouting :
Something funky is going on with plant #2 and I'm not quite sure what. I have a hunch that it is water damage from when my newbie ass decided not to brush off water that had pooled on the leaves from misting on day 3. If you look at my day 3 post and look at the plant #2 picture that is what it looked like after the water dried off of it.

Plant #4 - Day 6 Sprouting:

Plant #4 still continues to stay light green/lime green. Still think it might be a nitrogen deficiency but I'm not going to act on it yet as it's still growing strong.

Plant #5 - Day 6 Sprouting:

This girl is still TINY! Not sure what's going on But hopefully this new soil mix will cheer her up!

Day 9 Sprouting Update:
I hope to be getting my A & B grow nutrients from green planet shortly.
Plant 1:
Strongest plant of the bunch by the looks of it.
Plant 1.jpg Plant 1-2.jpg

Plant 2:
Leaves are still severely wrinkled, still a nice green color. Is this a genetic condition? What am I looking at?
Plant 2.jpg Plant 2-2.jpg

Plant 3:
No concerns here...
Plant 3.jpg

Plant 4:

Still a lime green color but has improved slightly. Deeper green closer to the stem. nitrogen dif?
Plant 4.jpg

Plant 5:
The runt....little to no progress and now what appears to be darkening at the very tips. Lime green like Plant #4.
Plant 5.jpgPlant 5-2.jpg

Plant 6:
Slight yellowing starting from the tips. Possible nitrogen dif?
