Hello RIU community. Long time lurker first time grow journal poster.

I finally got a Secret Jardin 3 x 3 x 5.3 tent and have an AC hood with an inline 4" Vortex fan.

I had to step down the hood from 8" to 4" which was a chore to find an 8" x 4" reducer but actually lucked out and found such a beast at the local hydro store.

I'm growing Black Domina x Golden Skunk from Mr. Greenseeds mainly an indica strain which is clearly noticeable from the photos. I planted the larger plants around mid-November and had them under a huge 85 W 5500k CFL and a few other 6000k 26W for about two weeks until I had purchased the current setup and moved them under the HID lighting.

The seedlings were started about a week ago and have been under the 400w MH from the get-go.

The photos above we're all taken on December 5th. I'll be posting more current photos later this evening.

Here are some pictures taken from today. The room is already starting to get a nice sweet smell, it will be time to hook up the carbon filter soon!

Hoping these leaves are healthy any comments are appreciated, they look good to me.

My Pride a joy, I really hope she's a girl

This baby got a damaged stem during transplanting (was pretty rough with her) and she's been laying a bit sideways every since but otherwise appears healthy.

So I've decided to move everyone up a size. Was at Canadian Tire and picked up these 18L (5 Gal) jugs. I'll be drilling them out tonight and will post some pics of the family once they've settled into their new homes.

@Matt, thanks man I've subbed to your grow journal... will go through and read the journal tonight. I checked out the last few pages, looks pretty serious bongsmilie

Thanks 400. Grew up near a hwy 400 in Ontario :P

I don't know how legit this will be considering its my first serious grow (did a really really shit one under some T12 light bulbs a while ago .. 5 plants and like 5 g :(

I've read a lot about nutrients, soil etc so hoping this one goes a lot better.

I'm liking the ladies so far..

I keep singing Lady Madonna to them.. the only reason I can figure is because of the Black Domina in her...

that or I start thinking of Pam Grier

Photos are uploading now.. Post em soon

So I smoked and then proceeded to chicken out about transplanting right now.

I'm going to wait for the roots to establish a little bit more first.

What I did do is hook up my carbon filter.. This was a big deal for me because I had all kinds of issues with having an 8" AC hood and 4" carbon filters and inline fans. Check out the 8 down to 4 reducers those were tough to find here in Ottawa. Without paying a metal shop to do it custom (I sure as hell am not handy enough to do it on my own), I lucked out and one of the local hydro shops stocked them.

Also I was starting to get a bit of that sweet sweet smell that we all love but try so desperately to mask.. and I don't want any hassle from the missus about my new hobby.

I also sealed up all the lines with aluminum tape now instead of tuck tape. I figured the tuck tape was only so so as far as air sealing went.

Set up with Carbon filter no attached... MMMM the air is charcoaley sweet and odourless coming out of the exhaust

They look relieved that I decided to wait for transplanting.. don't they?

Okay a question for the RIU community.

Is this okay as far as drainage goes for my 5 gallon pots? Too much, too little? Hopefully its apparent the number of holes I drilled. They are all 1/2"in diameter

Please excuse the bad photos. I will get a better camera soon Our old Digicam broke a month ago, so after christmas we should have some nicer shots of everything. Plus my setup is in a tight spot in my basement which makes taking decent photos a bit of a challenge with a garbage blackberry for a camera.

Looks like its sucking to me.looks like how mine is set up!
Yup it is sucking horizontally through the carbon filter that is hanging horizontally down to the ac hood on the left side through the hood to the right side and then up vertically through the vent

Fan is that last step in the series

hmmm, not sure if i know what im talking about but wouldnt it be better to have passive intake and put that carbon filter outside the room with the fan blowing air out of the room through the filter?

I'm not 100% either but I was told at the hydro shop and I've seen online that sucking is more effective that blowing..

Same is true for many things in life apparently..Hi-Ohhhhhh!

lol, go with whats proven obviously. i would just assume that blowing the filtered air out of the cab and pulling fresh air in thru a passive intake makes more sense, at least sounds like it does. but i really dont know.

Because my fan is exchanging the air about 1x per minute you create some negative pressure within the tent that should pull in fresh air from a small screened opening at the bottom of my tent.

I've also got a cheap fan blowing on the plants to bring in fresh air and to encourage stronger stem production
