Hey all,
Just got my seeds today - had them soaking in water for about 4 hours, and 3/4 sank so I moved them over to some damp paper towel. Keeping them in a warm dark place....

The seeds looked great, quite dark brown, with black swirls and lines all through them...

I'll be using Sphagnum moss (75%), Perlite, and Limestone, in a pre-mixed pro-mix. I'm going to add some additional perlite to the soil mixture to make it about 20-25% perlite.

I have 2, Lighthouse Black star lights - 1 100w UFO, and 1 180w panel, both are the 2011 models - the UFO uses 2w LED's, and the 180w uses 3w LED's. I also have a 2700k 42w CFL that may (or may not) get some usage as well.

For Nutes I bought some of the AN line;

Sensi Grow A+B
Sensi Bloom A+B
Voodoo Juice
Sensizyn
Big Bud
Bud Candy
Bud Factor X

I also bought 2 kinds of bat guano; 10-3-1 and 2-17-0....

Cost a bit, but I hope it'll be worth it!

I'm doing a scrog grow with feminized seeds... (here's hoping for no hermies!)

I'll post some pics of the room shortly... I'm using 5 gallon buckets that I cut down to about 3 gallons.

I was thinking veg for about 4 weeks.... I have to keep it somewhat small....

Here's some pics, sorry about the quality.... The 180w isn't here obviously....

Pic 1 - Inside my homemade carbon scrubber.... x2 133.6 cfm fans... I don't have the pre-filter yet, but once I do, it's going to be a piece of pre filter, then some activated carbon, topped with another piece of pre-filter.... It's made out of plywood...

Pic 2 - The mini room! (The 100w is behind the white light!)

Pic 3 - The scrubber with both fans....

EDIT: I was thinking about putting the cfl under the screen, hit the plants from the underside as I believe space might be an issue... Is there a measurable gain from having a light under the canopy?

Nice scrubber :P Im doing the exact same thing got a couple PC fans that are suppose to do well with static pressure.

How much height do you have to work with?

It's 72" tall, so if I wanted to do a non-scrog grow I easily could...

Originally I was going to have 2 scrubber boxes, venting out the top of my grow box but decided that to get better static pressure I'd use 2 on one box.... I got Scythe Ultra Kaze fans... they're rated as high static pressure as well...

The color is nice, but it's not fun if you go to sleep, close your eyes, and you see nothing but pink. This has been my experience for the past week. I have a 500w blackstar and 240w blackstar in my 4x4 flowering tent. It is BRIGHT. I just started my journal two weeks ago, so check it out if you want to see what they think of led lights. You got that right, it is BRIGHT! Hard on the eyes lol

The lights were on in my room in those pics, it just looks dark because there's so much light coming from the grow box!

Update:

Seeds are still germinating, no signs of the tap roots yet!

I definitely notice some light leakage, going to get some weather stripping for around the door...

Update: The Tap roots are starting to pop out on 3/4... going to let them sit one-two more days till they're a little longer....

Nice, be careful when planting as those tap roots are very fragile.

Ideal yield? Well let's see if you're LEDs are actually using 280W for the lights (not the bulb rating or fan wattage) then I would say Max ideal would be around 320-380 (over 1g/w). Even 280g would be a very good yield. You'll only see these numbers if everything goes ideal AND you have good yielding genetics. Only one way to find out though ;)

thanks for the tips man! Every bit of knowledge is appreciated!

I've made sure to keep the paper towel damp, but not soaked so oxygen can still pass through it.... :D

The genetics are BC Bud Depot's "The Purps".... so here's hoping!

Nice, I do love the purple ;)
My first two grows (and one where I helped) I used the paper towel but I did some reading and my current grow/future I'll just soak for 12-24 hours then plant directly in soil, less risk of transplant complications or stress.

But whatever works ;) I've had good germination rates both ways

I actually just transplanted them into soil a few moments ago, 3/4 had tap roots, I hope the 4th is just being a bit "cunty", but will catch up soon... :)

I have them in one of those expandable pellet greenhouse kits... the lid is on it, and my small 100w light is beaming down on them... once they get a few inches big I'll plop them into my beer pong cups lol....

Generally people like to keep humidity higher with seedlings/clones (i put ziploc bags over them until they sprouted) Havent done a ton of looking into it though. Just make sure that there is a little air flow (aka no air tight humidity domes).

Also dont overwater, its hard but i stunted my plants early on because i didnt let the soil dry out enough.
