first grow - 10 days in - too short?

Hi guys - this is my first grow ever, so please excuse any stupid questions or mistakes.

I am growing 2 Dwarf Low Flyers(autoflower fem), just thought it might be an easy baby step into growing. I am concerned that they might not be growing fast enough. Here is my setup.

2 Dwarf Low Flyers from Crop King Seeds.
5 gallon pots of FFOF mixed with more perlite.
32x32x62 tent.
6' Vortex S-Line fan with Carbon Scrubber, negative pressure is good.
600w MH/HPS cool tube.(24/0)
-running the MH currently, will switch to HPS when vertical growth stops and full flowering begins.
Temps running between 72-82f. Rh running from 20%-30%.
No nutes given, have only watered them once(4 days after they sprouted)

They look healthy enough but I feel like I am seeing very little vertical growth for 10 days old. Am I just being impatient?

See what is happening is you've got those little plants in huge buckets. What you don't realize is they are working just as hard to develop a root structure as this point. I myself start my plants in a solo cup wait two weeks then its right into a 5 gal bucket. At that point I don't notice real significant growth for at least another week maybe week and a half, and then it takes of like crazy. The plant looks healthy just let it catch up.

yeah, no worries as your plants are looking good, but you are using a rather large bucket for a dwarf so it will take time to establish the roots

I'm currently growing a Crop King DLF as well, also grew one last summer in my 2014 indoor sunshine grow...I really like this strain, easy grow

well im no expert i am on my first grow but i will try to help from my expirience.
well for one 5 gallon pots for a small plant like that isnt the greastest idea but it can be managed if your carefull. they should be smaller pots id say all my clones go into a half gal pot till roots flourish.
and make sure that light isnt to close the hps 600 is really bright and distant with lumens.
they do seem to be a tad small at 10 days. but i also ad a VERY small ammount of nutes. depending on plant health at the time.

I was told that transplanting them is a bad idea because of how short the veg state is.

They're spending time growing roots at present. I think they look great.
thanks man!

do you grow in FFOF? i think if I added nutes now it would burn it.

yeah FFOF has more than enougnit actually has more than seedlings/cuttings need. i would suggest a mild soil

It looks good , I run autos all the time. This particular strain will be a shorty ( maybe 2 foot ) , it's a decent strain to start . Try not to hammer too much light on this little girl. Right now she is getting her legs (rooting). I also use FFOF , ( despite what others say ) and it has nutes already embedded . Like you , stick with water only , for at least 2 weeks. Then you can give a short veg nute feed ( week 3 ) 1/4 - 1/2 strength of veg nutes. Then as plant hits it's preflower ( switch to bloom nutes ) . I also flush before bloom nutes and before harvest .

A word about pot size from the beginning , your fine in leaving it in its final pot from the start . I don't transplant AUTOS. I give them their final pot when they germ and start growth. The veg cycle will be very short. Once it shows flower switch feeding. No need to add supplements with AUTO , just veg / bloom. These are quick growing . I believe around 60 days ! Just like LowGirl , 60 day wonder and others.

About lighting schedule. 24/0 is preferred but if cost of running big lights is a concern , you can do 18/6. Dark period isn't an AUTOS biggest requirement. I run CFLS do to lower power costs , but it will grow with all light types , T5 , HID , etc.
Overfeeding Autos is the most common mistake because new growers try to fit a regular feed schedule to these faster strains.

You are on the right track . She will blow up soon enough.
Remember this is one of shortest strains out there and a good smoke.

Peace

I forgot to mention some of these will be grow into a one huge cola without lots of branching . If this does that , it's ok.

Rad! thanks for all this awesome info, I really appreciate it. Any idea what these things usually yield? I was reading 75g and that seems like a lot... again - thanks for taking the time to respond and share the knowledge!

There are a number of " Lowryder " strains ( dwarf ) and no two are alike. I would realistically say yield if things go well around maybe 40g . Hydro can yield much better.

They stay small and short , it's in its genetics. The buds are kinda dense. But for an easy , real easy plant to grow , this is the one. The ruderalis part of the genetics is the part that makes Autos different in terms of growth and life span.

I would say about 20 days or so flowers should be evident. And some Autos can be males.

cool. I'd be happy with anything over 1oz. These seeds are autoflower fems, so hopefully I don't run into a male...

Hey guys - update here. A little worried about the leaf tips drooping. Is this something to worry about? Everything else seems healthy and good, but those tips seem droopy.. I watered them last night, it was 5 days since the last watering. No nutes at all.

These are at 16 days old. Growth has been explosive in the last week. Very short and bushy... also - does anyone think I should do some LST?

Do not transplants autos u want a 3 gal from day 1 minimum 5 gal even better
I don't know why ppl would suggest to grow in a smaller pot with auto and transplant em that's dumb there roots r not like normal photo the bigger the pot the deeper the tap root the more yield they root deep and fast small pot stop that accelerated root growth and will stunt a auto
Do not overwater autos water as little as possible
Only water when top 2 inches r dry and water sparingly u really wanna promote root growth so far looks like u doing well man do not feed nutes till at least week 4 and then about 1/4 recommended str
Here a Nl auto I grewimage.jpg

Looks like they have a little more N in the soil then they want but not terrible. My indicas get sensitive like that. As long as they keep growing at a steady pace. They might store/hoard N like that till flowering, some strains do. Also after watering you might get the droopiness sometimes. That can be caused by a little too much water or moisture stress but since you waited 5 days and are clearly being careful then no worries there. The low humidity(moisture stress) can do that a little too.

Nice growth spurt for sure.

Yeah it's in a 5 gallon pot. First 10 days the growth was so slow I thought it was stunted, but someone told me it was probably growing a lot of root.

I was told if using FFOF on an auto that you shouldn't feed any nutes till week 7! Do you think this is too long before a feed?

Damn, that's a beauty - where is the NL from? Just ordered some Auto NL beans from CropKingSeeds that I want to try.

Thanks for the insight man. My humidity level runs between 25-40%, and it's hard for me to get it any higher. Is that too dry?
