so this is my first grow. i have 2 plants in 6 in pots right now. dont know what strains got about 20 seeds from a buddy who had some laying around from various sacks. theyre under 2 23w, 1 26w,& 1 30w CFLs. i put 2 of em in some old lamps i had layin around but ill prolly do away with those soon. right now theyre 2 weeks old. till i can get a new j-o-b i gotta keep it cheap so nothin too fancy but not to shabby for a wal mart grow eh?

Nice little babies. You may want to put some more soil in those pots. I always fill to within 1/8" of the top of the container.

Dont wait too long before moving them into bigger pots the smaller they are when you move them the better. Also I would recommend buying large pots (12in+) to put the plants in so you only have to move them once when you do finally move them. I've lost plants before because I waited to long to move them and the roots didn't take to the new soil because I killed to many of them in the moving process.

I use clay pots for my grows. They have the added benefit of moisture absorption and ventilation. And I would recommend using big enough pots to flower and harvest from when you plant the seed in order to avoid moving pots. The less you disturb their growth the prettier the ladies look.

I am new to growing and was wondering if hps lighting is really necessary for 2-4 plants. I don't want to use them mainly because of the extreme heat, but are they really worth it when it comes to the final product?

HPS has low heat. Its worth if over cfls. Your plants will grow bigger denser and danker. for 2-4 plants though 150-200 watts will be more then enough.

Can I use the hps light straight through with an autoflowering plant since they skip the veg stage and go straight to flowering?
