I just started my first ever hydro grow using a coffee can made of plastic and 2 airstones with a 80 gallon airpump I have a clone that's about a week from cut in some rockwool with hydroton inside a 3 inch homemade netpot with plenty of holes I know this is absolutely the smallest dwc I've seen and I plan on growing some good strains but I'm doing this with a clone so I can get more knowledge and firsthand experience before I go throwin some good seeds in and kill them and would this pump made for 80 gallon fish tanks work with a five gallon bucket ?

There's 2 roots coming out the bottom touching the water and water ph is at 6 don't know the ppm but I used tap water no nutes any suggestions are welcome I'm not sure if it's possible to even grow in this small of a container so any info towards thy would be nice

Looking good keep going tap water, get a ppm meter it really is a must, keep PH around 5.8 I would add nutrients after another week slow is better than too fast did you add any rooting hormone?

even without a ppm meter your seedling should be just fine. start off with 1/4 strength nutes whenever you have a nice root system going in about a week

5.8? in my hydro grows i keep it at a ph of 6 and its perfect. Use a quality nutrient and it will buffer the water. general hydroponics buffers to a ph of 6 automatically even using aged tap water. Its great you added lots of bubbles and are covering the base with something. cuts down on the algae. the roots are a good sign. as soon as the roots hit water, they will put out the roots.

As for nutrients, it's good to wait a little while then add 1/2 strength nutrients. I agree you must have a ppm meter. it is how you know the strength of the nutrients. I use tap water or distilled water for my grows. just measure the tap water and adjust your nutrients so the target ppm is reached but not exceeded. I go full grows and never go above 1400ppm. My last grow of blue mystics were a light feeder so i kept them at 1200ppm through out.

Sweet great info u think this will work and should I jus let it get a lil big and flower it so it stays small or can I grow it out without it being too much for the container also will my pump also work with a five gallon bucket I just got one with a 10nch net pot for free will my 80gallon pump be good enough or do I need a better one it's rated At 1.4 gallons per minute and has two outlet valves

And I used some roottech rooting hormones they worked the best for me I tried no hormones, rooting powder, and rootech and I can deffinetly say it worked best but I'm out of it now was wondering if I should try something different for rooting gel and what u all find to work best for u

Well you dont want cold water. You may try setting the whole thing inside a box and fill with old rags. The extra insulation should keep it warm. Whats the ambient temp of the room it lives in?

I just use whatever rooting hormones they happen to sell at the garden center that comes in gel form. Powder just washes off so no good for hydro.

The room stays at 80f I wAs told 70 degrees was optimal by someone before but I don't think they knew too much wat temp works the best or does it all depend on the rooms temp confused but ima listen to u since my friends prolly jus not to smart

I think your water temp will be fine if thats as low as it gets. i like it around 78 but i do not spend much time measuring the water temp to be honest. My lights heat everything up, i never have to worry about cold. hehe

nice lil setup..not the smallest dwc ive seen...my girl is growing her a plant right now in a res half that size...but using a single airstone and a 30 gallon pump...hers is doing great...just seems like a bitch to keep the ph stable...and it seems to like a lil higher ph then most dwc's like...least thats how this one is going

Idk if u posting the 65 degree temp made it change but last night turned the ac down and the water temps now exactly at 65 must just be a coincidence thanks though checked it this morning and now all the roots are starting to shoot off secondary growth
Room temp - 76f
Water temp - 65f
Bubbles like a methane deposit in the bremuda triangle
Clone still hasn't sprouted any new leafs when should that happen and I'm gonna change the water out today should I use any nutes or just keep straight Water and should my lights be at 12/12 So it doesn't get to big for the container or should i keep it unde 18/6 thanks for the temp help don't think I will ever grow anything in soil again unless I get some really groundbreaking organic soil lol
