First Closet Grow - 150w HPS ScrOG Purple Kush & Skywalker

I'm getting pretty excited about my first grow. I started out poorly prepared (I attached an image when I was trying CFLs), but once I read some more things, bought an HPS, I've began to turn things in the right direction. =)

It's been two weeks since I put my net up (could've been a smaller net but honestly this was the best I could find for now) for the scrog and it's just ridiculous to see how my bitch reacts to them. One of the top branches (I topped her a month ago) has 8 bud sites all sticking up facing the light... it's lovely.

I'm thinking about flowering in about a week or two, giving the plants more time to train under the netting, and myself more time to figure a few more issues out.

I'm stuck with having the temps sit at 89-90 degrees during the late afternoon times 3-7pm.... I honestly can't figure out what to do next to try to remedy the issue. Should I just stick another six inch clip fan over top the HPS facing out of my closet? I don't know how that would help, but it's the only thing I can come to a conclusion with...

Also, when putting the plant in darkness, does it have to be complete zero light leakage in the room? or just where the plants are? because when I close my closet doors, there is light leakage, but the corner the plants are in is still pretty dark... I have to wait a few mins for my eyes to adjust to make out the canopy of the plant. Would that be a problem or should I look into a solution for that as well?

Regardless if I get any tips or not, this lady has me feeling special; and I'll post pics of her progress hopefully till a healthy harvest =D

Hey bro, are you keeping the door closed. Might want to consider a passive intake. You can buy a door for cheap, drill holes in the bottom and run a fan on the top to suck air out. Might keep the room cooler too. Just my two cents!! Good luck with the grow, would love to see some pics!!

Total darkness has always seem to be a question to me, that is to say in nature it's not totally dark there's moonlight, that being said I think it's because we grow indoors and it does need total darkness. 89 to 90 degs is pretty high tho my room is usually 82 to 85 in summer, doesn't seem to harm them tho it might stunt their growths a little. Nice looking grow tho, looking forward to see the results.

It's a sliding door so that's a good idea... thanks =D

Yea 90 is harsh; but so far it's not killing anything... I don't want to flower until I can get the temps down to at least 85....

As far as the darkness goes, I might just do something as simple as using velco on a bed sheet or some mylar and just cover the doors with it during the time the light is off..

Three to seven is the hottest part of the day anyways so your light should be off. If that's the only time your temp is the problem make it your dark cycle. If your schedule permits

I wish I could change the title of the thread since I'm no longer indoor with the grow.

The Purple Kush wasn't loving life at all with the heat issues, so I moved her outside to live life wonderfully. I've dedicated a portion of my balcony to be my flower area during the summer. I also moved out two clones of the PK and also the top of my Skywalker =) A rough estimate on the flowering times; the PK mother probably 3-4 weeks, the clones 4-5 weeks and the Skywalker 2-3 weeks, also it's about time I gave the Skywalker some food no? I'm using FFOF and it's been a little over a month since she's been in there so to me it looks like the nutes have faded....

Purple Kush =)

Purple Kush Clones: (lol they started to flower before I transplanted and ever since I became to nervous to put them in shock so I'm just seeing what happens in their little pots... I'm having to water them like every day now lol)

For some strange reason, my Skywalker mother is loving the conditions of the heat... maybe it's just her DNA but whatever, she'll be giving me some babies soon that'll hopefully replace these plants by the time they are done flowering. I don't have any recent pics of her yet but I will when I get a break from the grind of work, school and caregiving =)

My schedule doesn't permit it sadly... I'm at work, school, and caregiving pretty much up until sunset... so it's hard to be able to do that.

I've just been dealing with the 85 degree temp, and have turned my closet into my mother area. The skywalker loves it, and I'm going to pop some other seeds in a month or so to grow them and see if they can stand the heat as well, it's all in the genetics if they can stand it... if not I'll be moving them outside around Jan or Feb to get a good life cycle in. =)
