First 400w HPS grow, NL#5

Well basically My setup is very simple, soil from my local greenhouse, water from a natural spring, and some bomb northern lights seeds.

i have a 400watt hps light on 16-8 with an automatic watering system i set up with just a air pump, empty water co0ntainer, an some tubing. really what im going for is a cheap grow where i can manage my plants without always being there. the temp in the room stays at a constant 80 degrees F. i have 2 fans to circulate air, well thats about it ill try to keep it updated with pics and more info,

any tips or suggestions are very much appreciated, thanks

and for the note, they are about 3 weeks into vegging

pics, the 2 in the middle are the NLs the one in the bigger 2.5g bucket is a local strain a friend of mine grows, its a cross of 2 unknown sativa plants, the mother to the plant was real treat to smoke. the other is a bagseed from some purps i had. hoping for a good turnout, plants are going on week 5 veg tommor. hopefully will be getting warm enough weather soon to move em outside. I ordered a grow tent 3'x3'x8' or something like that, its suppose to be here on Wednesday my plans are to keep all 4 of my plants under the lights 24 hours until i move them to the outdoors, after that i will mother one of the NL plants under the 400 watt for a chance at cloning.

NLs 4 weeks into veg, the larger plant is 5 weeks into vegging. i transplanted one of my NLs to a 5g bucket with my plans still set to mother that plant under the 400watt when i move my plants out into the sun. my tent was ordered and should be delivered around Wednesday. in the mornings it hasnt been frosty latley but according to the weather channel its still freezing so ill continue where im at and keep em under 24 hour light

One more update. 4 26 i started 5 clones, ill keepp it posted, also im lovin how this plant is looking definitely proud of the lady

Update, 4-29 clones have started to show wut looks to me as roots!! very exciting time in addition to getting my new grow tent!! just set it up tonight an man that was a bitch...but definitely worth it cant wait to see these next few weeks fly by. you can see in the pics which plant i took the clones off(sum pics are while the plants are still in the other room)

also added a mild nutrient, Microgrow general hydroponics, plants have taken to it nicely so far

Nice man... I got a NL plant nearing the end of the 4th week veg... was having some root problems but back on track now. Nice clones!

I would highly recommend you putting some blue spectrum in the room. Maybe a shop light or something with daylight bulbs would be cheap and easy.

would sum flourscent 4800k t-12 48inch bulbs be good? there called grow lux and to my eyes they emit blue light, what are your thoughts on that?

good to hear bonus! the clones im workin on arent lookn very healthy at this point but time will tell

so from what that chart says i should go buy sum cfls around 5500k? i added sum more lights today the same ones i was talking about in my earlier post pics will be shortly

These clones were given to me a couple weeks ago and they were covered in spider mites so I didn't even dare put them in my grow room. I am spider mite free as of right now in both rooms so that is a victory I enjoy haha. Here are some pictures of the set up...

thanks man, i think im gonna need to invest into sum of those little bulbs, but for the mean time i added that light i was talking about earlier, im a little concerned how the NL's in the 5g bucket are looking it seems like there stretching a little bit, what are your thoughts? also its about week 5 now of vegging is it ok to attempt cloning, or should i wait a bit longer?

Hope your lighting schedule is 18/6.. instead of 16-8.

Great strain, I have grown it in the past, and doing it again.

Thanks man, and yea your right it is 18-6 off at midnight on at 6am, ive been thinking about 24hour lighting, for the rest of the veg stage, any thoughts on that?

There is much controversy about this exact question. I believe you can even find the discussion here on RIU if you search 24 hours or 18/6 16/8.. If you ask me I stick to 18/6 and find it puts less stress on the plants. They tend to grow faster actually for me with the 18/6. She does seem to be stretching just a little not much but that is good and helps with cuttings for clones. I stretch my mothers a little intentionally so I can take easy cuttings. Works great. No concerns from me man your doing great keep it up

word dude thanks for the info, currently my grow is in State of Emergency.

today my, for lack of a better word, partner, decided they cant endanger themselves by me growing there, which i guess is understandable, but not when they want to continue their grow while kicking me out...straight up assholes...but anywho i moved them outside tonight and kept them in there same buckets no more pics at this time nothing really worth showing. I also had to leave my mother behind at the house because i had no way of getting her out discreetly...another bummer to this upsetting day...*sigh*
