Don't listen to negativity! Your CFL's are fine. If you have a way to check the temp under the CFL's - do it son, and if it's pretty cool (mine average about 80-83) you can have them about an inch or less away from the plants! I vegged under T12's and it took two months for the plant to get 6" tall. CFL's & bubbleponics made all the difference for me.

I would however Google the lights you have (if you don't have the box they came in) and check the color of them. 18/6 needs 6500k and 12/12 needs 2700k. This is my simple knowledge of CFL's and that's about all you need to know. Also, the more CFL's the better. Good luck sir. I like the tote, that's what I started in! A tent would be a great investment, that's what I'm trying to save up for aswell.

Edit: +rep for staying positive son.
for the tote how did you set up the venting? .. i have the smaller fans venting heat out.. and a 6" inside blowing the plants i feel that i should have the smaller fans venting in..

it probably is the soil im using..i think im going to repot tommorow or next day..
Was about to suggest that. Also, it is very important to know the temperature and humidity. I picked up a digital temp / humidty combo for 10 bucks at walmart. Also just started growing for the first time but I've been reading a lot so I feel confident enough to offer advice :P. Don't give up! Subbed.

What tote? >.< my current cab's exhaust is a 120mm .45a case fan, the intake is a 120mm .41a case fan. I got four of the fans from a flea market - all 120mm ranging from .21a to .45a being the strongest. They're all very very loud

I would make sure you have an exhaust at the bare minimum. It'll help remove excess heat and stale air. I have gone my entire grow without a thermometer or hygrometer.. I just recently got a digital thermometer & in my luck the temps in the cab, 1" under the light, and in the rez were all spot on.

Show me some pictures of your grow area & I will help you the best I can.. as for your problem with the plant being burned, use a nuteless medium untill the plants are ready for strong amounts of nutes, I had the same problem w/ my plants, I used Miracle Grow soil for three days which has a strong amount of nutes, and all the plants got nute burn. I took them out and put them in completely nuteless soil like I started them in and they perked right back up.

The thing about weed is.. when you smoke it, you get seeds from it.. I always thought if one dies, or starts to, I'll germ some more seeds. I started out with five plants and fucked with everything so much that I only had two - one was male so I killed it >.< it's your first time and any kind of mistake is fine.. I checked on my plants about 20 times a day when they were a week old >.< still kinda feel like I check on my current plant too much hahaha

Good luck bro

Its the soil miracle grow will burn them pretty easy. Unless you water just right. If you water too much itll release too many nutes and burn the plant. Just water every 3 or 4 days. I usually wait till i stick my finger in and its dry to half way or more.
