Maybe i'm getting confused but none of the boxes said what color they were, I even pulled a bulb out of the box and it didn't say on it either.

you were probably looking at the GE soft white cfl's - they aren't marked with the kelvin temperature, which is confusing
but they are real good bulbs for flower, you can go to the manufacture web site with the model #, they show the specs including bulb temp

I think I'm just gonna pick up some 42w or 68w fluorescents online. Probably like 6 42w or 4 68w, any suggestions? This is for a 2ftx2ftx4ft box I built and probably one plant maybe two, not sure yet. I'm also thinking of getting a 150w hps for flowering.

Lowes and Home Depot have 65 watt at both kevins.
Really, maybe I didn't look good enough at my Lowes. They should be by the rest of the cfls correct?
Im talking about 42w cfl equivalent to 150w incandescent or 68w cfl equivalent to 300w incandescent.

i'd be wary of the lowes 'bright effects' brand, they don't get good reviews for longevity from places like consumer reports that report on such things
i have had good results with home depot's 5500k cfl's for veg, home depot cfl's get higher review grade than the lowes brand

I've been to my local Lowes and Home Depot and neither have 65s. I think the best buy is on 42s and I get them from amazon.com.

I looked at them at Lowes last weekend, and they had 2700k 65 watts with all the other cfls bulbs and they had 68 watt 6500k with the outdoor lighting .
